An odd little bonus quirk of the Shanaplan is that I actually look forward to pre-season games now.

You presume Hilary was not elected because she is a woman.
I do not believe that is true. - Aetherial
That's not true - I believe she lost votes because of sex. It was a factor not the reason.

In a country where universal health care is considered the work of socialist devils, you aren't going to get a lot of good presidential options. - Canada Cup
Very true, but more to the point. In electing for a position of power - be that a political or religious leader, it will attract some real undesirable candidates.

The problem with your hypothesis is that; that means the left are sexist and against their own parties agenda...because the right showed up as much as they did for Romney, but the left didn't for Hilary. So either they are all secretly against women, or they didn't like the candidate and figured they had it in the bag (since every poll said she would win by a good 60/36 split). |

The reason why Trump didn't fully condemn the idiots trying to "Unite the Right" is because they represent the vast majority of Trump's abysmal 37% approval rating.
Just imagine where that number falls to if he pisses off those clowns. Make no mistake, Trump's inaction here is self serving, as always. |

I think a bit of both. She certainly was flawed. Debates - which are a form of acting in a sense, did not go really well, but the geographical breakdown from urban/mostly educated to rural/mostly uneducated was really where Trump won.

No kidding, over 25 inches of rain to date and the wettest months still to come. Hope to get out for some pike and pickerel this month up north. Used to do a fly in up north every year - pike were giants.

It was pretty funny to be honest.
A rally to "unite the right" and that unification draws the fringe insane people. Then you get Black Lives Matter and ANTIFA showing up to protest the protesters. Then riots. Then insanity. Then one big ball of moronic hate. - AdamFrench wrong! It was not a "unite the right" they called it that! But it was a bunch of racist asshoos! Spewing their bigotry hatred bullshat! And maybe ya the others got crazy too! But so would I! My father fought for freedom yes,and he fought for free speach, and when the racist protested, they had ever right to so! But he did that fitghing against the fashists mind you! These so called protesters?,they came looking for a fight, armed to the teeth and their real agenda is to rid their country of Jews, blacks and anyone else that ain't white and Christian! The only thing they deserved was to be exsposed once again.. unfortunately! And trump sure didn't call them to rally, or to protest But he needs to call these asshoos out! And get them out of his administration. This wasn't a unite the conservatives it was a protest against a statue,..A reminder of a (traitor )and a black mark in American history, and they came to kill for it if need be,and unfortunately they did just that! a young (white) women was!.....so what's going on in hockey? |

So what are your thoughts on Antifa? They are the left's version of the extreme, intolerant right. They actively promote violence against anyone who doesn't toe the Marxist-Postmodernist line and they are very much opposed to freedom of speech when it infringes upon their CTRL-Left ideology.
We have two extreme sides of the political spectrum and we're too busy trying to figure out which one's worse when it should be obvious that they are both cancerous blights upon society.
Per Trump, while he has done very little to stamp out the alt-right bigots who have supported him (and I'd like to know why as their numbers aren't even remotely as significant as the media would have us believe) he did inherit a country that was already deeply fractured -- something I think we all thought would have been in much better shape after Obama was inaugurated and served two terms. I'm not saying Obama created the problem that is today's America -- I'm simply saying we can't lay everything at Trump's inept, incompetent, and ignorant feet.
I find it amusing that while Trump's approval rating is at an all-time Presidential low (deservedly so!), Hillary Clinton's rating is somehow even lower. How is that even possible?
I think it's time for people to start waking up and realizing that the extreme fringe on both sides of the political spectrum do not speak for the majority of us. That conservatives are not all frothing-at-the-mouth racist alt-righters and liberals are not Antifa revolutionaries who want free speech expunged. The left and the right are not monoliths.
It's time to stop letting the media keep us in a constant state of misinformed paranoia. It's time for us to start focusing on classical liberal and progressive values that advance the country rather than trying our best to divide it into an identity politics dystopia.

Not sure if their's a question in your response other than my thoughts on Antifa? And my post wasn't left or right! I'm mean if that's what you're implying? I said trump didn't rally the troops! And is said that it wasn't a conservative movement that organized it! I said it was racist! Plain and simple asshoos punks goofs! And I also mentioned that the other side have crazy people sure! America was built on blood! Raised on blood! And some continue to thrive on blood! One thing I franking know for sure though! America is not! The greatest country in the world! I know cause I'm sitting right here in it! God bless Canada! ...I will agree with you on... go leafs go! |

Yeah, I think my question was in the first paragraph about what your thoughts were on Antifa - the radical leftist organization that has resorted to violence to deplatform those whose ideology does not meet their own. While I support protesting racists I don't support the violence or ugly hate-fueled bile Antifa displays in virtually every action they are involved in. Per the rest of my response, I may have rambled on there with a bit of a stream-of-consciousness - I tend to do that! For what it's worth, I think you did mention in your original reply that there were crazies on the left too.
You're definitely right that the US has a history of blood and there are still open wounds in the country that have yet to be healed. My fears are that, politically speaking, the United States has become more divided than it has been for decades -- it's regressed into far left and far right ideologies and those in the middle are being devoured by it all.
I live in Canada but we're not the "best" country in the world either (does such a thing exist?). Our country was not founded through the same violent struggle as your own but we do have our own issues.
Man, I think things are going to get a lot uglier before they get any better. Ugh.
Hopefully the Leafs good fortunes will continue and it can help us cope with the situation!
Anyway, let's talk about some hockey! |
