Agree. Since coming back from Japan, it's all I hear and see. Regardless of the view, everyone on this board would be high-fiving each other when the Hawks score in game 1 of any series. Everyone would be holding their kid up to the glass during warm-ups. Everyone would enjoy a beer together during a game at BW3. Much of it has to do that we are in a lull between action but there is definitely name calling, over-generalizing and taking things much too close to the heart on both sides. Best here is to agree to disagree I think and focus animosity at that troll of a Pred fan that was posting here after we lost in game 4.
- Popsghostly

This is good sentiment, especially after what went on this weekend. We don't need more issues to divide, we need more ways to come together... like Hawks hockey.

OK, I'm not going to get into the political bull crap, so I have a question, does anyone have any concrete information or on the no regarding the Will Butcher situation? Clock is ticking there, for once if this kid is as good as they say is, I hope it falls our way

I've seen and heard nothing since the initial speculation on the Hawks being on his list.

Gee - what power I have - getting an old-timer like you to leave.

I do not want to do that.

In fact - if there were ANY hockey news or gossip going on, I'm betting that NONE of us would have been as much politico as we have: I certainly would rather post hockey stuff that not.

So - don't leave - just ignore me.

Or.....you can quit doubling down on your political beliefs. But it won't happen cuz you have to get in the last word. Good job. Guess the CoC doesn't apply to you. And pulling the old codger BS doesn't fly.

You literally did the same thing you're criticizing him for.

Had to bring in politics. Good job. Poke the bear. Your criminal parasite lost to a narcissist reality TV star. Deal with it. Stick to hockey talk. You're pretty good at it.

This is the only update I've seen from anyone with potential sources.

@BarstoolChief
Based on conversations that I have had about Will Butcher with people I would say that the Blackhawks are NOT a favorite to sign him.

Alexei Marchenko waived by Toronto. Might be a decent addition for the 3rd pair. Good size, NHL experience, and fairly young.

Mirtle said that Marchenko is on unconditional waivers so that his contract can be terminated and he can return to the KHL.

And reading a couple of the other websites, and I would bet probably all the other rumors or "talks"of other players like Duchenne or EVander Kane, is nothing but a bunch of smoke, probably will open the season just with what they have right now, look for Joel to be pulling his hair out of his head big time! Don't look like there will be any more adds, get ready for the Smurf Kool-Aid!

FWIW, Eklund is reporting that Pastrnak is rumored to be part of a blockbuster deal to either the Kings or Avalanche. Bruins have had interest in Landeskog and Barrie.

Butcher will sign with Rangers, why waste time talking about it.

I would imagine Kerfoot at least signs with the Rangers with former Harvard temmate Vesey wooing him just as Hayes did last summer to reportedly woo Vesey. The Rangers could use a center to bolster their depth with Stepan with the Coyotes now.

Butcher also makes sense to have a strong chance to earn a starting job on the Rangers blueline with Klein retired, Girardi gone, and Staal a shell of his former self.

Kerfoot and Butcher will sign with the Rangers and the Hawks will settle for Dominic Toninato.

Nothing to say about Charlottesville as it pertains to hockey unless you have a problem with the trademark laws and think that "Detroit right wings " should be able to use nhl trademarked property.

As far as the 2018 draft being pulled from Dallas because the nhl is blackmailing the Texas state legislature by moving their festivities. I will never by another nhl product again if they stick to this. Today it's the toilet issue. Tomorrow it's gun rights. Next year it's free speech. Stay out of politics nhl or go back to Canada.

That's all.

Plus he is pretty much sucky anyway. Two teams that could use a defensemen or two have let him go. Pass.

This is really turning ugly. So now Maggie wants to know if I have the balls to explain if Their was a negative reason for bringing up a Jewish/American committee. No negative.. Just a view point. Nobody should quit this site... Let's all just shake hands and keep away from politics on this site( including me ).

P.S. Maggie I do have ball... They are all brass.

I hope you're wrong on this but fear you are correct. Safe but logical call for now. Hoss LTIR and some (the right ones) teams fall out early, very early.

Would you be so kind as to inform who the heck is Toninato.
Also, have you seen much AHL? Anyone consider Dahlgren a dark horse whom could emerge, might get a look? I say Snuggerud needs a half season AHL, then what is the difference between him and Gustafsson? It is not what they might contribute, offensively, but their reliability from defensive point of view.

I like more what Samuelson might be able to shape in Kemony and Ruuta.

Perhaps a tad premature, calling for smurfdom on the roster.

Consider: the effect of Samuelson coaching/teaching style.. The games will not be as quiet as prayer time in church!. Less stick checking as well. Wingels, Dauphin, possibly Hayden or Baun + the top two lines are not going to be pushed around.

Do you concur?

They will not rush DeBrincat btw. Fortin might earn a nine game trial before heading to the AHL. He might get knocked down but he does not play like a Smurf. He actually could become a prototypical NHL wing. Intriguing prospect and when reports suggest whether he can play consistently and rack up more points.....that is probably correct.

Even though both like to skate with the puck, I would imagine Snuggerud is more defensively responsible compared to Gustafsson who can be a riverboat gambler. Agree, though, that Snuggerud needs more AHL experience first so in that regard maybe Gustafsson is further along in terms of playing NHL minutes (assuming he worked on his defense with a full year in Rockford last year).

And I've been meaning to ask you for a while, who is Dahlgren you refer to in your posts? The Hawks have a forward prospect John Dahlstrom and a defense prospect Carl Dahlstrom. I assume you're talking about one of them.

Or maybe you're referring to Dolph Lundgren? It's not how fast you mow, it's how well you mow fast!

My bad. Dahlstrom, on defense last year in Rockford.

Also

I edited that blog to include a comment about DeBrincat and Fortin. Which you might comment upon

No worries. I honestly don't know much about either Dahlstrom. A few years ago I remember the blueliner Dahlstrom had a brief stint with Rockford but management was not impressed at all and felt he was not prepared for the jump overseas so they returned him to Sweden. That was 2015 and he played his first full season with the Hogs this past year so I'm sure he has grown since then. How much is the question.

Of the Swedish defense prospects, I imagine Gustafsson has the upperhand then Carlsson. Maybe Svedberg? Has he improved or stagnated?

Press had a good prospect camp so maybe he gets a long look in training camp. He's big and has a mean streak. There's also Norell and Dahlstrom but not sure if either are far along in their development to warrant intrigue.

As for DeBrincat, I hope the Hawks take it slow with him and let him grow in Rockford but a part of me thinks he'll be rushed. IMHO, Fortin has the upperhand over DeBrincat based on the former showing last September that he has NHL speed and shooting ability to keep up with the pros. DeBrincat was invisible, though, and has had two successive prospect camps that left a lot to be desired (granted Fortin didn't play at all this July so maybe he regressed and we just didn't get a chance to see that drop off).
