It's a tough order for 2 reasons. Wayne may be tough as nails, but he will never have anywhere near the brute strength of Kerr, nor can anyone be taught Kerr's unbelievably quick shot release. Wayne has pretty successful on the pp, I wouldn't change his game at all. - BiggE
Agreed....I'm just trying to get a square peg into a round hole....
Guess I'm harkening back to just seeing Kerr hit corners and wanted to live vicariously through Wayne being Kerr 2.something...

As great as Kerr's wrister was (and it was a beauty), the difference between goaltenders then and now is night and day. They are larger, more athletic, etc.

No, I didn't take a photo, but I did tell him how much I enjoyed meeting him and wished him well. You seriously don't want to piss off that doll!
 - BiggE
Haha, I've never seen The Conjuring/Annabelle movies, but I just read about them and found out about Robert The Doll. I'm not one for believing in the paranormal...but why take the risk? |

Well remember, don't get too attached, because we are being forced to trade him by the end of next year. |

Simmonds has to work within the PP structure the Flyers have in place. In the umbrella formation, Simmonds had his assigned area of positioning. Kerr was a sniper with an unbelievable wrist shot and quick release. There isn't anything wrong with Simmonds will to fight for space and the puck. Trying to emulate Kerr would be a bad decision. Just aren't the same kind of player. - MJL
Like last post harkening back to Kerr...I feel like we were a bit short changed on Kerr's career due to injuries. Was hoping someone like Wayne and we could say wow, he really reminds me of Kerr. But I don't think we will see that on our team or any other team for that matter.
The dude was just a beast and always scored timely goals or those backbreaking goals! |

True, but, OTOH, Kerr wouldn't have to face having one or two Dmen holding and mugging him every time he was on the ice either.

He would probably take 5 or six solid crosschecks to his back and ribs that would be game misconducts today on 1PP too

Their mid 80s pp of Kerr, Eklund, Propp, Howe and McCrimmon was virtually unstoppable when all of those guys were healthy.

Their only problem was that Gretzky, Kurri, Anderson, Messier, and Coffey were even more unstoppable. |

I know they changed it for the 50s Canadiens so that you could only score once per minor. What was the Edmonton change? |

At ES, without a doubt. On the PP, I'd call it a toss up. Eklund, while not as good as Gretzky (no one was), was a hell of a set up man and the Oilers had no one that could do what Kerr could do on the man advantage.
They took the Oilers to 7 games in 87 without Kerr and with both Poulin (ribs) and Howe (Knee) playing with serious injuries. Who knows what the final outcome would have been if they had all been healthy and Kerr in the lineup.
Those Keenan teams were the hardest working teams I ever saw and Hextall was on another level that series.

I believe one was no more 4-4 they made penalties offset cause 4-4 was ridiculous to give Gretzky that much space...

THey changed coincidental minors to be regular 5 on 5 play. The Oilers were so good at 4 on 4 that they would try to goad players into mixing it up so that both guys would get roughing calls. They'd then put Gretzky, Kurri, Anderson and Coffey out there and just kill teams at 4 on 4.
damn, leight again!

In 87, MAYBE they take them if they're healthy. But in 1985, they had no shot.
That Oilers team, followed closely by the 56 Canadiens and 1992 Penguins, were just deep as hell. |

Went to school with Tim Kerr's son, Garrett. Solid basketball player, playing pro in Europe now. Signed our 4th year...he was a PT major
Also talked to Tim on the phone asking for a donation to the shool I reluctantly asked him after 20 minutes of talking hockey. |
