I agree, not saying they are going to be cup contenders, but I do think they will be a bubble playoff team - Streit2ThePoint
Agreed.
The Metro is really going to be interesting this season. The Caps have definitely gone backwards IMO, but I don't think they'll fall enough to miss the playoffs. As they age, the odds of Crosby, Malkin and Letang all staying healthy gets slimmer, but until we see it, you have to pencil in the Pens as a playoff team.
After that, it really gets murky. The Bluejackets could go either way and you have to wonder how long it will take for the players to get sick of Torts and start tuning him out. The Rags are still banking heavily on an aging goalie and really don't have a true top notch 1C, the Isles are the Isles, good, but probably no more than a bubble team. The Canes and Flyers should both be improved and either club could sneak in. I would say that right now, only the Devils look to have little to no shot of making the playoffs when it comes to the Metro next year.

Both were in consideration for my list and I had them rated pretty evenly.

Flyers got some of the better brother combos:
Eric instead of Brett Lindros
Martin instead of Matthieu Biron
Chris instead of Sean Pronger
James instead of Trevor Van Riemsdyk - jmatchett383
Keith instead of Wayne Primeau
Clarkie did get is Mark instead of Matt Cullen so it's not all roses... |

I say yes. The thing that set them apart (at least on the Flyers) was that Kimmo could defend a SH counterattack miles better than Streit. Also, Streit had the bigger bomb, but Kimmo handled the puck better when pressured. |

The metro might have 6 of the 7 best teams in the eastern conference - YuenglingJagr
With the current playoff format, it could be really challenging to make the playoffs out of the metro. |

Will take some luck. Speaking of which, I feel like that has a better chance of helping the Flyers make the playoffs this year. Not much went right last year unlike a team like the Blue Jackets, where pretty much everything went right |

Also also of note...Canes signed two defensemen to really friendly long term deals off of their ELCs. really like what theyre doing - YuenglingJagr
I can't see the Flyers getting Provorov signed for less than $6m AAV, but I'm OK with that if it's an eight year deal.
I'd expect Hextall to want to get that done next summer to rule out any possibility of him going back to the KHL when he's an RFA like there apparently is with Zadorov. |

The Avalanche are a joke.
I think if they sign him off the ELC he can stay under 6. I woundlt care if he is a little over, but there is a point where I think a 2 year bridge could work for him |

I have an ELO tribute in the works called Electric Lynne Orchestra that should be hitting the theaters in Mid fall.
We will be playing all the ELO hits plus Wilbury's and stuff Jeff Lynne produced like Tom Petty's Full Moon Fever, In to The Great Wide Open, and George Harrison's Cloud Nine.
We will be doing everything live, no vocal tracks.
So far its sounding pretty damned awesome.

Provy's too good to bridge. I'd be scared of the contract he could demand at age 24 or 25.
Hextall should make use of the lack of limits on signing bonuses in the current CBA to make a long term deal at ~$6m more attractive to him. Ghost got 41% of this contract as bonuses, so going to 50% for Provorov shouldn't be a problem. |

I doubt he will get a bridge deal. Especially if he improves this season. The Flyers will lock him up 8 years at 56 million.

Wow that's impressive. I know nothing of the technical aspects of music but is ELO stuff difficult to play?
