This fan base needs 2 different threads, same blog 2 threads. In one thread they can complain about the people in the other thread and vice a versa.

Naaaaaaa never mind, that's a stupid idea.

Van could have 18 possible first round picks on the team.

De Haan will be 27 and a UFA next summer, I would love to see JB go for him. Yes I'm talking about 2018 UFA's, it's better than half the poop on this board lately.

Who is he going to be better then Van has on the Left side? He's a 4/5 D even on a mid pack NYI D.

I would be fine if JB clears significant room for him first, as in 2 D from the current roster gone.

I do think he will get severely overpaid though, like Alzner money

He's probably on par with Hutton at 4 years younger. Edler is. OJ will be. Shouldn't need to pay over 3 million for a 3rd pairing defensemen.

In with the new out with the old. Upgrade on Hutton, some upside. We'll see how MDZ does, but probably better than him in own zone already.

Or Brian Doumulin. 4.1

Clearly can see why JB isn't up for trading Tanev.

Hutton in a bottom pair, De haan played top-4 and didn't get so scorched they faked an injury and moved him to bottom pair. Hutton has upside, but right now defensively isn't close. Edler isn't getting younger. his replacement is not currently in our lineup.

Like I said, I'd bring him in if a minimum of 2 are gone from the current roster. Preferable 1 of those would be at least Edler/Tanev, and then the anyone not named Stecher, but term and money are considerations as well. He doesnt scream 5 years and more than $20m+ type of player to me

Just like guddy for us, this is a big year for him. Getting paid is a huge motivator, just look at the many overachievers from last year with big deals. Also, the market is trending toward second pair guys making between 4-5, so get used to it!

People keep telling you how great of a Ref you are and *talk* all kinds of respect and support... but do we actually see these same people showing it? Unfortunately no. Quite the opposite.

Give it a break people. It's become more annoying than the riddle me this posts everyone complains about.

Well the gang mentality is childish & non stop.

It is for sure, but as we all know UFA bidding drives up the price, teams are getting much better value retaining players than acquiring new ones through UFA. DeHaan is a solid #4 in my eyes which isnt worth paying him the upper rate of 2nd pairing

Clearly we see De Haan differently. I don't see him ever as a legit top 4 D. I don't see Hutton as one either. Hutton has been outscoring De Haan. He's 4 years younger.

Edler has 2 more years, MDZ now has 2 years. By that time. A replacement could be found or Hutton even develops the defensive side of his game. To sign another D at a cost of around 3.3+ million per season as a number 5 D (IMO), is too much.

Have seen way too many FA D get paid way too much. Don't need another Garrison situation.

D-men that make it to FA are there for a reason, if they are any good their teams would have then signed long term.
