Term is too long, money is too high. He's a good player right now, but I don't see him as a sure thing 3-4 years down the road, it seems more likely that he falls off than gets better.

That said, if he stays at or near his current level for the majority of the contract, it's not going to hurt them.

If he plays like he did in playoffs than yes , but got to admit..him getting.g tarasenko $$ is a bit of a red flag b/c he ain't got that talent. Him being a center raises his worth though

Tanner, Kadri isn't a comparable to Johansen.

Kadri isn't the Leafs #1 center. Johansson will be the Preds #1 for years to come. That's why he got this deal

And while Kadri is excellent, I disagree he's better in every way.

I just want to take a minute to thank Sidney Crosby for taking such a long term sweetheart deal that pays him till he's 38 at a reasonable 8.7 million

Hahahaha Kadri is a better player. Do you say dumb things just to rile people up or do you, with your blue and white blinders, actually believe such nonsense?

Can't really compare. If Crosby was signing today it would be a much different story.

And RyJo is not worth even close to his much.
All of an sudden guys like Eberle and Nuge look like bargains.

His and Malkin's deals are tremendous values.

#1 Center on one of the best lines and teams in hockey, just turning 25. David Poole knows what he is doing. Made Toews look ordinary in the playoffs. His injury (and goals being mysteriously waived off) big reasons Preds were only second best team in hockey.

Great player, who does not fade away, plays all situations, great on draw. The Preds are not the team most people from EST think they are, the days of D first have changed when they hired Laviolette.

How long are we going to hear about injuries & disallowed goals being the reason the Preds lost?

There's a guy named Letang who has a lot bigger impact to his team than RyJo in my opinion, & after a disallowed goal the refs in 1 game did everything but actually score to try & give the Preds the win!

Your Pekka is a big reason for your failure - & the Preds!

Just responding to the post above!

Maybe 1 - 1.5 M too much for the term but doesn't matter with all the other great contracts the Preds players have.

he was 1 year away from UFA status, and he got 7 years of this deal being UFA ones.

They had to pay up, he got market value for him, someone would have paid him 8m if hew as a UFA next year

Yeah, if would have been a UFA, there are several teams that would have offered 8mil. If they overpaid, it's not by much. The JOFA line is here to stay for a while.
