That is a pretty big deal for a player that is 25.
How do you think Flyersbuzz would respond to a deal like that if he was on our team? - opeth_pa
I don't care for anything over 5 years.. So much unpredictability that can happen in that time frame |

Not sure how you can say Schenn is identical on the ice
Over the past 4 years - Points - Assists - Goals
Simmonds: 224 - 104 - 119
Schenn: 202 - 113 - 89
That doesnt even account for the intangibles as you mentioned which is what makes Simmonds such a key part of the team. - opeth_pa
Bit disingenuous using Wayne's age 25-28 seasons and Schenn's 22-25 seasons to compare them, no? We know Schenn took a step forward the last 2 years. Over that period Schenn has averaged 26 goals and 59 points per 82 games...........Simmonds 32 goals and 57 points/82 games. They're both strong PP, average at best possession players and middle 6, support 5v5 scorers. On ice there's not much difference. Simmonds few more goals; Schenn the better passer.
Schenn got nonstop ridicule for being pathetic 5v5 last year......Simmonds was somehow worse but that doesn't get mentioned. He's a good player and a great guy, but he conveniently gets no blame for these team-wide issues that others get. All those intangibles haven't turned a pumpkin into a carriage with this team like some make out. |

I had no issue at all with Schenn and would have preferred they didnt move him.
It never made sense to me that Coots gets an excuse for not producing on the PP but Schenn gets ridiculed for only scoring on the PP..
I just personally would take Simmonds over Schenn if I had to make a choice.

No one scores on PP2; that's a complicated issue. That's also changing the subject. This team doesn't win or lose over a season because he doesn't get another few PP points on PP2. He probably does this year anyway.
Everyone would take Simmonds over Schenn, age aside (which isn't irrelevant needing a 6-7 year contract in 2 years at 31). But it's only because of mystical intangibles; it has little to do with any on ice difference. But plenty would take Simmonds over Giroux and Voracek too. "Gut the team! But we HAVE to keep Simmonds because he's not replaceable." I question that notion. And I love the guy. |

I honestly dont think he is, If you had put Ryan white with Schenn and Couturier if wouldve put up at least 10 pts more than Weise did, and I dont think last season was an aberration, he shot 8.5% and had 8 goals? Guy is 4th line fodder getting paid 3 mil - PVL29
That is pure speculation on your part. History shows us that Weise has had seasons of 29 and 27 points, while White's best season is 16 points. White is strictly a 4th line player and probably a 12/13th forward. Weise showed at the end of last season that he can play better than he did for the majority of the season. Weise is a guy that could play a 3rd line role while White has zero business being any where near a 3rd line. Wiese cap hit is 2.35M.

Weise and read have very similar offensive stats, including zone starts. I was actually surprised HOW similar, since Weise is not expected to be an offensive player. On the flip side, Weise lead forwards in hits per minute of ice time BY A LOT. And that is why he is the choice for a checking line wing. And there is the salary thing.
Package Read with some other overrated player signed to a future albatross contract, like Ghost, and ship him off for a young scoring forward. Retain some salary if necessary. Or if you are getting a forward back in trade, add dump Laughton too. The Flyers have 15 NHL level forwards and on any list its hard to see how Read and Laughton aren't the odd men out. |

Are you seriously saying that Gostisbehere is signed to a future albatross contract? The Flyers shouldn't even think about trading a young defenseman for a young scoring forward at this point in time. Read is an older player so I can see him being on the outside but the Flyers have invested significant development time with Laughton and they are going to give him a legitimate shot to make the team. He is not viewed by the organization as one of the odd men out. Maybe you aren't paying attention but the Flyers recently chose to protect Laughton in the expansion draft. |

Guys, the Phillies are winning 8-0. It's time we contact Gus the Groundhog and...eat him. I mean (frank) that groundhog. He's so annoying. No one can be that happy. I bet he beats the poop out of his wife. |

It would take a lot for me to move anyone not named Provy on that list but to this point not a single one of those players has done anything in the NHL. I would certainly think Patrick is also as close to untouchable as you can be for a player that hasnt played a minute yet. |

I'm going to bring both to the back of the bus. We will be able to eat them undisturbed. Honestly eating anthropomorphic groundhogs is the least weird thing I've ever seen someone do at the back of a bus. |
