I think they saw him as a much better version of Ryan White, except he isnt. I seriously thought 4 years was a mistake when it first came out.

There hasn't been room for Read in two or three seasons now.

I think they saw him as a much better version of Ryan White, except he isnt. I seriously thought 4 years was a mistake when it first came out.

Weise had an awful offensive year last year but there is no question in my mind that he is a significantly better player than Ryan White is.

He's still an NHL-caliber player, albeit probably a 4th line/PK type. Probably the first time since his rookie year that he'll have to earn a job in camp.

The last two years when he was with Montreal he had decent seasons. I think the Flyers thought he could continue that but obviously so far it hasn't worked out. I don't know what the Flyers plan was for him but clearly they thought he would live up to the value of his contract

I would imagine Weise will be given every benefit of the doubt to be a contributor simply because they are stuck with him for 3 years.

Compared to the rivals 4th line for a PO spot it does not stand out but it have somewhat a better smell to it than last seasons 4th line.
