Setoguchi appeared to be a sign and trade. I know Shattenkirk/Blues were offered a sign and trade from Bruins. Kovalchuk was asking Devils for a sign and trade.

Your math is incorrect Jan. Rangers have to account for possible performance bonuses of Vesey and Deangelo of 3,25 million. They also only have 21 players on active roster so they will be adding at least one contract. They will be over the cap unless a move is made. - StaziakAttack
The bonus breakdown for Vesey is 850K for Schedule A and 2M for Schedule B. That also may have been over the life of the contract, so since this would be second year of the two-year ELC, that could change the equation. But l believe you can earn the max bonuses in each year and below is what's included in Schedule A and B bonuses. (I can PM you the link)
Individual "A" Bonuses - These are broken into categories like ice time, goals, and plus/minus. Each category has a minimum requirement a team can bonus for (10 goals, for example) and each category may not create more than $215,00 worth of bonuses (you can bonus $100K at 10 goals and then $115K at 15 goals if you want). Total "A" Bonuses can't exceed $850,000.
Individual "B" Bonuses - This is kind of a two-part bonus system based on performance comparative to the rest of the league. First off, the league itself will pay the player a bonus outside of his Club-paid salary if he does things like earns a place in the top five for postseason awards like the Hart, Selke, or Vezina; or if he places top ten in the league in offensive/goaltending categories. On top of the league bonuses, the club can pay bonuses of up to $2M to the player for making these awards.
Figure Vesey could earn the $850K while it's unlikely he earns the $2 million. In addition, if he does earn the bonuses, New York can carry that cap hit into 2018-19, which may depend on where they end up cap-wise at the conclusion of this season. "Under the CBA, teams are allowed to exceed the salary cap during the season by 7.5 percent as a result of potential performance bonuses. The catch: if the team ends up exceeding the cap at year-end due to earned bonuses, the overage is carried over as a penalty the following season." |

I posed a question regarding Johansen, I should hope it takes more than that to convince you of a completed trade. |

I think Nashville will get it done. They have the cap space, and I doubt they trade their 1st line center after a SCF appearance. I think the odds of a Johansen trade are 0 |

I'm not good at this stuff.
Should have threw in a conditional 5th somewhere and some performance bonuses. |

I thought of how long it took Trouba, and then just read about how long Kucherov made Tampa and Gaudreau made Calgary wait. So I guess this isn't uncommon. |

Not with Johansen's agent. Remember when he was in Columbus. |

he is definitely reading my comments
HEY LARRY! - jimbro83
The one piece he didn't mention, which we have discussed, is Toronto eating some of the salary to facilitate a deal. It's unlikely and would require a bigger payment (player-wise) by New York, but feasible. |

I really believe that Toronto would have no problem trading Bozak to another team without having to eat any salary |

if anything, the leafs will be wanting to come out with net less salary and contracts out of a deal. |

you are right.
Bozak is very valuable... like one of the best third line centers in the league who plays in all situations and can fill in on a 2nd line and still be great at that spot. he can fill in temp on a first line. his cap hit is a huge bargain.
not sure why some leaf fan earlier wanted to trade him for a 2nd rounder. you could get a late first and mid level prospect easily but even that would be dumb from our stand point.
leafs best course of action is to resign him at the end of the season for a small hometown discount just like the rest of our players have been signing. |

This just in:
NYI realize their place in the NHL. Follow up with a sign and trade of John Tavares to the NYR for Nick Holden.
Terms of the deal for JT are 13 yrs at 5M AAV
Am I doing this right or does it need to be a 3 team deal with Bozak or Duchene in the mix? |
