Gretzky, Orr, Lemieux, Belliveau, Richard....those are generational players. McDavid has the tools, and will probably be one...Matthews? I don't think he will be included in that group.

People make way too much of being a part of 10 cup winning teams.

Hard to call someone generational when they don't really set themselves apart from the rest of the players of their generation. He may have been among the top 5 or 10 in league scoring for about a decade, but he was never really AT the top, and the only year he was, it certainly wasn't in a tier above.

I know Habs fans love him, but he just doesn't belong with the rest of those players you mentioned.

Leafs fans get razzed for not winning cups since it was a 6 team league... Beliveau couldn't dominate that 6 team league, so why would we talk about him being generational?

At least Maurice Richard led goal scoring 5 times. At least you can maybe consider that generational. He's kind of like that generations Ovechkin? Except that Ovechkin actually led scoring races as well as just goal scoring. So I guess Ovechkin would be considered more well rounded.

I lived in Vegas for 2 years and the city was always trying to get its' residents to conserve water from personal usage. It was like a running joke, all the casinos can have their billions of gallons of water in the near 100 swimming pools, most of which are outside in the heat (evaporation), but I need to brush my teeth with less water

Gretzky, Orr, Lemieux, Belliveau, Richard....those are generational players. McDavid has the tools, and MAYBE he will be one...Matthews? I don't think he will be included in that group.

As an aside, is it just me or does Matthews like himself a lot? I bet his mirror is worn out...reminds me of Kessel.
