Exactly. You can't give an award to someone based on what they might have done when someone else actually did it. Everyone assumes that McDavid would have put up great numbers all season had he played a full one. Who's to say he wouldn't have run into a long slump due to the grind of a full NHL season? We'll never know. We do know that Panarin had a great season.

Get some goaltending and I could see it for sure. I'd wager that depending on who gets their need first (Jets: competent goaltending or Leafs: a stud D) will be the one to win it first.

Meh...Jets moved up and got Laine. It was almost a best case scenario for them...almost.

Matthews is a better more complete player but Jets fans are happy. None that I know of think Laine is better at this moment.

What are you talking about. Did u listen to any sabres radio station during that year. We tanked for McEichel. We were getting a generational talent either way. That is why we tanked. Are we upset we didnt get mcDavid sure but we are extremly happy with jack.

Yeah, he's five years older but he had to adjust to a completely different game on different ice. No one ever mentions that though.

It is so true though. Leaf media were so against tanking when Buffalo did it. Then next year they do it but spin it off as they were the good guys and were classy and tried to win every game.

Laine will be a perennial all-star in his own right. Very talented kid, big, and fast.

I have to say, I think the Jets need more than just goaltending. You guys seem to be missing something, undefined, but something more than just goaltending.

Don't get me wrong, I think if you get better SV% and consistency at the position you will be a much better team. It just feels like with that much talent there is some under-achieving going on. Leadership? Chemistry? Coaching? Not sure.

I think Eichel is awesome. If I had to chose between him and Matthews, I'd probably take AM. However they are in the same tier....which is below McDavid and Crosby.
