Could we maybe let the kids play through their ELCs before we start handing out Hall of Fame ballots? |

How can you say something like that, Sir? That's against the rules
Anyways, just a pleasure to buy Dwayne a meal... |

i live near toronto and surrounded by leaf nation and other than the pure morons about 90 percent of leaf fans would trade matthews for mcdavid this very second - krazykurty
I wouldn't. Did you see me aunt and uncle in Edmonton airport try to hug him? He dropped a turd. Would not hug them back. Matthews wouldn't do that! Anyone have the picture? |

Should have enrolled in McDavid's. Way, WAY better. |

Matthews better than McDavid ?
I guess you are drunk or just plain stupid. Fat-boy wasn't going to win any cup the moment the Leafs picked him at the draft. McDavid will lift cups in the next 10 years. - Delios001
And then there's Montreal. Galchenyuk your top forward? Max P? Year after year you have ZERO scoring punch and a bunch of little wee boys. So embarrassing. |

mcdavid had a better points per game.....and had something like tied for the best plus minus for a center ..tied with a selke nominee i might add.....the pens could survive without sid.....oilers wouldnt without mcdavid....most valuable to your teams success man is who wins the hart - krazykurty
3 Cups to 0 says hi.
Personal accolades mean nothing, it's a team game.

Trying to be objective on this one is hard. Being a Leafs fan, I get to see more Leaf games than Oiler games. What I have seen with McDavid is blinding speed and being able to find a small space for opportunity and being able to exploit it. He's closer to Gretzky than any player since 99. Matthews, on the other hand, is a bull. He has an amazing hand to eye coordination. He has a deadly accurate shot and can stickhandle in a phone booth. He's more like an Eric Lindros skill-wise, without the killer attitude. Although both have fantastic leadership skills, Matthews has the ability to raise his game, as attested to the last 3 games of the Washington series, when he scored the lone goals in the one goal losses.
Right now, McDavid has the edge, because of one more year of experience. In 3 years, it'll be one-two for being the best players on the planet. Both are generational talents and have the ability to lead their teams to multiple championships. It will depend on the secondary talent, that will determine who wins more. |

Time will be the great arbitrator of this discussion. Come back and chat in 3 years and see who is closer regarding this discussion. One other thing that may come into this equation is health. McDavid has experienced two injuries, one in junior and one in his rookie season, that has kept him out of action for an extended amount of time, a broken hand and a separated shoulder if I'm not mistaken. It may be one offs, but something to keep an eye on.

I'll put 50 on Matthews scoring less than mcdavid did his second year. You leaves homers got some money where your mouths are?

What "Leaf homers" are you talking to? The one or two people that actually argued Matthews might be as good as Mcdavid, or the 30 or so that admitted Mcdavid is better?
Maybe Eklund will take your bet. He's the one responsible for this travesty.

He is saying McDavid is better, we are all saying McDavid is better - how is that being a Leafs homer?
I think it is reasonable to think that McDavid and Matthews will be 1 and 2 in this league in a couple years. It may not happen but the potential is there. |
