Contrary to what you all think, EK is right.
If anyone has that special something and could possibly have a more glorified career than McDavid it's Matthews. You simply don't understand just how good Matthews is. You all hate the Leafs and your biases get in the way. Auston is just as impressive as Connor. |

We should all remember that the clergy asked Galileo to retract his weird ideas about the planet being spheric. Eklund is the Galileo of the post-modern era. |

Only an ..... would really think that... so fill yer boots.
Everyone betting on Mathews should do so with some cash in Vegas. I'm sure the odds will be favorable and if right you get a lot more than a "I told you so" in some crappy blog.
It wasn't close this year and "most likely" shouldn't be moving forward.
The best thing about this whole situation is... It's a lose lose situation for Toronto fans.
Hype up Mathews as generational, even if he isn't, but end up having to pay him 13mill because of how valuable the franchise perceives him.
Mathews might well only sign a 5 year 13 per year deal so he can go play for his home town Arizona asap.
Good topic at least. Very entertaining. Hope this line of thinking makes its way through the heavy Toronto Media and works some magic there as well. |

As an aside, is it just me or does Matthews like himself a lot? I bet his mirror is worn out...reminds me of Kessel. - habsp
You're kidding right? He seems like one of the most humble kids to come into the NHL.

McDavid has the more promising career ahead of him at the moment. You never know if Matthews can surpass him eventually, its still real early in their careers to predict.
But I'd have to say McDavid.
Matthews is still going to be one of the best players in the league during their careers and im totally ok with that! |

I know why you guys love McDavid so much..
Because you're so used to people from Ontario coming out to Alberta to get poop done for you. You like being submissive to a more dominant, successful province.
It's straight up kinky but you just can't get enough of it. |

Time will tell, but right Mcdavid is on a higher level from a Ppg/game changing perspective. Matthews will have a tougher time scoring next year, as teams adjust and watch his tape. |

Everyone sitting on doughnut pillows tonight? So much butt hurt in here.
We all bash Ek regularly for his ridiculous roomers and questionable facts and knowledge, yet all Leafs haters are going batpoop crazy because he said Matthews would be better than McDavid?
(frank) me.
McDavid has more talent, Matthews looks like he has the potential to be a better leader. Both are great players and will most likely win lots of hardware. Hopefully some Cups for Auston and our long suffering fan base. |

Don't teams watch tape game to game? Or just in the summer? I don't know. I just can't imagine he was surprising people the 4th time they played him.
If they only watch tape in the summer, I have a great idea. |

Uh no.. you can't cover him, Nylander, and Marleau all at once. He'll score just as often and get another 15-20 assists. |

Off season is when coaches/strategy people work the hardest. He will have to adapt/stay ahead. I'm not saying he can't do it, but it's too early to make this kind of claim IMO. |

Your homer fanboy schtick isn't cute, but your arguments/reasoning is not very strong. |
