im some what with you on this.
I would trade Mcd for the right return before giving him a 7 year deal between 7-8mil
in saying that I wanna see how he performs with a better partner this year - mrn22
I hope that McDonagh isn't going to be your new "Stepan" here from now on. |

The amount of disrespect towards Girardi, Staal, Klein, Holden and Hanks makes our fan base an utter joke, no longer can I defend this fan base as loyal and great towards other fan bases, it's not even rock bottom but this is how it's gonna be if we never win another Cup - KreiderBomb
That is a sad, but TRUE statement about this fan base. You also should have added Stepan to your list. |

My boy? Just because I want someone who I feel would be a good fit? Screw you jimbo How often have my calls of who to get been wrong?
A good source tells me that the Rangers were in on him and debating Jokinin and Desharnais and decided to sign Desharnais. - airjan23
I had to do a "double, double take" here in reading this post. First in that it was made by Jan, and second that it was in his response to of all members, Jimbo.
It's a Friday evening, and not a late Monday morning now guys. |

McD is a warrior, but there's a chance he could be gone before a new contract. Love the guy though, but it's a reasonable debate as to wether or not you give him a 6-7 year deal at 30. I'm not sure which is the right answer. And u quoted someone else, a few ppl on here have already said they might trade him before giving him 7x7 |

Additions Subtractions
Deangelo+ Klein
Anderson- Stepan
Shattenkirk+ Girardi
Desharnais- Lindberg
Pavelic- Raanta
Are we a better team than last year? - nyrangers9479
I cannot say OVERALL just yet with certainty if we are a better team than last year. Zibanejed still has to be re-signed, along with another experienced center being needed, as well as a gritty forward. Deangelo is unproven on defense with only 39 NHL career games played. Andersson is still for now, only "a hopeful wish" until proven that he first makes the roster immediately off being their current #7 overall pick in the draft. His overall skill strengths, (in trusting their scouts), are better than Stepan's, but he also has a lot to make up experience wise for the loss of Stepan's contributions at center defensively. Desharnais may be a slight loss when compared to Lindberg, especially with his well played postseason.
There are only two guarantees thus far in their player changes. Number one is the big difference overall in their favor with Shatty running the offense from the back line and on the power play, in replacing the defensive minded, warrior shot blocker in Girardi.
But, the second one, (if you had read my words posted very early on Friday morning), is that their outcome for their regular season, could simply come down to how many points they may lose otherwise, in having Raanta being replaced by Pavelec as Hank's backup in comparison. That is critical for a backup needing to start in about 20 to 25 games, in order to keep Hank stronger through the season's end, and to play well during a long, possible playoff run at a then age of 36.
Pavelec's past few seasons of lower body injuries suffered, has greatly affected his game performance, compared to that of it prior, & dating back to the Jets days in Atlanta. His 2016/17 season's SAVE % of only .888% depicts that worry in chief, even with Benoit Allaire here, since he can only instruct him well, but cannot fully control whether his body will hold out in the long run to allow him to perform well enough. Gorton may still need to re-address that backup goalie decision sooner than later. |

this summer so far has been about skating skating skating skating
not only the guys they are bringing in, but the guys being shipped out
if they signed one of these guys like Jussi Jokinen or Jagr then I'd really think they have no plan in mind
to me, it looks like they have a plan |

By Staal and Holden likely to get the majority of the Top 4 minutes while Skjei and Smith actually play well. |

I've liked this off-season, but I hope the plan includes acquiring another stop gap center either prior to or during the season. I just don't see how they can win with that center depth, assuming of course that they still want to give it a run next year.

Hopefully.
Or I could see them going the one year stop gap approach. Centers with a year left on their deals that could come reasonably priced in trade -- some of which might require the other team to retain some salary for a year. |

hopefully they get Zibinajed done ASAP
knowing the exact figure they have to play with is huge right now
I really feel like Deharnais will be the only "1 year 1 million" guy the sign, unless they have a camp invitee |

I actually think they could use one more of those one year/$1 million contracts if they have the ability for depth if nothing else. |

Love Shey ...want Shey BUT want a top center tooo ..actually more
I see Shey as the key to Kadri or Duchene or Mackinnon & Draistl?
what the hell throw the kitchen sink in too
Pointy is to procure a top entity like a center we need to give to get...
no fools here or Duchene woulda been gone ..top centers are akey ingredient
and we are sorely lacking... like i SAID ..
You can sell that J T to the middle & hayes & Zbad will move up ...why they barely
finished the seasons with injury or slump .... not mu idea of a world class team ...
YET.. so top heavy on D & everyone just puts Staal in the 5-6 slot ..
Cmon with signing of Kirk & MAc making for the next best pair since Bacon & Eggs was created .... WHats gonna happen to Shey .. he is a top pair guy
waiting for his spot.... 2nd line D for 1 more yr.? get the value
He is the reaql deal & will get you a ttop center in retd in a pkg.
who else is available on team to get that done... MAc is but SHat -kirk signed to be with him.. soulmates from the olympics and all... sooooo SHey for top center
Everybody get on board and flood Gorts mailbx with our demands |

You lost at Kadri, Duchene and Draisaitl. I'm not trading Skjei for one of those 3. Especially Kadri or Duchene. - tomburton99
I love Skjei but come on, you wouldn't trade him for Draisalt or MacKinnon, you are seriously overvaluing him. |
