When I 'plan' the future, looking at the cap going forward, I find it waaay easier to just let Nash go... For sure I would like him on the team for a cheap, but It's nice to 'play' wit those 7.8M going forward...
- 21peter

I know 7.8 is a big number, but I am one who always comes back to how much better we are with Nash on this team.
And write this down, I think he's gonna bust one again this year. With a little luck (and a little better shooting %) he could've scored 35 this past season. So many great looks. Such a difference maker in every facet.

Don't know what hockey you watched this past spring, but I watched Hank outplay Price in round one

That what we all thought about Lundquist.. now he's 35, on the decline and getting 4 more years at 8.5.mil. Canadiens will feel our pain in a few years. Lol
- junaka3

We were right to feel that way about Hank then. And they should feel that way now. Managing these contracts has become an integral yet overlooked part of the game. I don't think anyone has found a great system for it yet, but it is what it is.

Contract year for Nasher. I expect him to be a beast this coming season. I see 35-40 goals is he stays healthy.

I'd like to sign Grigorenko as a 4th line center. Start Miller at 3C and hope Grigorenko shows enough were comfortable with him as our 3C. It will give Anderson a little time as well to not have to be rushed right into the lineup.

I'll take 10 goals, 23 points for a 4th line center.

Kuznetsov 8 years $7.8 per, have just over $4 mil in space and need to resign Burakovsky who would be their 10th forward, have only 5 D signed and have to resign Grubauer.......(frank)ed!!!

Hey ,its raining deals galore YET not one mention of NYR hunt for the center we must get ....
cant tell me we go into season with Miller as our answer ..
we have a glut of D men ...not gonna see Staal as a 5-6 man no way
Holden didnt get prtected to be a 7 man according to Jan
But Give that man a bone (Clenedening ) and he will not let it go!!!
no better than a 6 man or 7 in lost cases on 5 teams yet talent scout Jan keeps a light on.... too funny ..let it go man let it go ...
My scenaro is we will hear by Tuesday ..SHey is gonna be sacrificed for the next
top center we MUST get... Realistic is Dushene but who knows what Gorts can pull outta a team .
.I still say we should Draistl the Oilers we a deal he cant refuse...
and they cant match

Shatty sounds too good to be ttrue .... may Mac & Shatty be the #1 pair 17-18
56 pts aint no hay when our #1 center got 55..what are they gonna produce
as a tandem and individually watch out.!~!!

Marleau ;whatta joke
Kusnetzov; how do you say ..whatt a joke in russian
Price : cmon ..a cnandian joke .... crazy bastards ....

why would teams blow out proportions ... whos paying them if not the team there with .. no way to build a cup strangling themselves ?

anyway please get a center ...pleaase please .. i cant go on ,the suspsense is killing me ... have a great 4th of july and watch for the news or fireworks on the deal gorts makes .....

Lord knows what they would want
makes no sense, Marleau for 3 years $6.25 per? They could have just kept JVR?

- puckhead17

Toronto made no sense alone in not re-signing both Brian Boyle (NJ - 2 years, $5.1M total), and Matt Hunwick (PIT. - at an AAV of $2.25 for either 2 or 3 years off the top of my head). That's a total of $4.75M annually let go of in a veteran leader, & very good defensive skilled/PK center, plus a d'man that played very well for them in eating up ice time minutes as well. And they did so all to add more help up front, their big strength, in an older veteran leader and goal scorer in Marleau at a higher $1.5M difference. They signed veteran d'man, Ron Hainsey, who may work out for them on the back line, but they knew what they already had in Hunwick.
Sources there said they wanted to bring both Boyle and Hunwick back. So how could a GM like Lamariello, with a coach like Babcock, not see they were weakening their teams' weaker side of their game, to improve on their team's stronger side? Now the word also there is that they may have to part with JVR to get some of that up front defensive help, and add more on the back line to what they had earlier.
That's why for the Rangers, a Shatty F.A. signing was necessary, as opposed to acquiring a similar one by creating more holes in their roster trade wise, which would they would have to fill in again later anyway, as Toronto did only in part thus far.

Absolutely STUNNED by the contract that Caps gave Kuznetsov. I realize we need a center, but we should SERIOUSLY think about offer sheeting RW Andre Burakovsky. 22 years old 6' 3" over 200 lbs, fast skater, ( think younger version of Kreider ) I have zero idea how Caps can now even give him a bridge deal. Ovie, Oshie, and now Kuznetsov, JUST CRAZY!!
Plus--- John Carlson comes up next year!

It's called cheap depth. Could have qualified him at same amount and possibly had him Hartford. Don't think o am chomping on and not letting go. I advocated the same for Hrivik. I did say we needed a center.

To make room, they traded Marcus Johansson to the Devils for Florida’s 2018 2nd rd pick and Toronto’s 2018 3rd rd pick.
