Just throwing a name out there but how about Ricard Rakell. The Ducks have some center depth. He's tied up for years at a reasonable rate. Probably would center around a guy like a Miller.

not sure why the Ducks would want to move him?

If it wasn't about money at all, and all about his heart, he should have signed for the NHL minimum (with a NMC) so that they could spend more money to further better the team.

The key is it's only July 2nd. Gorton deserves the time to go out and find another center.

I think you guys will end up being proved correct. I think the Rangers now intend to have Lias Andersson make the team. Because even if Klein retires, the Rangers only have 7 million in cap space left.

If he retires, they have $10.65 mil in cap space.

I think though if they get a Center it will be through the trade route. Which means cap money will be going the other way with a player. I think they are fine cap wise

Final word for me on the Shattenkirk deal is it's a steal basically. The $ he left & the years he left on the table to sign w the Rangers is a remarkable break for us. And because it wasn't a Break the bank type of deal I feel Shatty will not have the weight of the world pressure on his back. Him & Mac should be a can't miss partnership back there. Yes the Pom poms are waving in my house today.

Isn't it 8.350M in space now... add Kleiner's 2.9M - 11.250M...?
Not sure what I'm missing...

That's with 18 players. Zibby and Fast ~6.5M. Lias ~925k. Should leave us with ~3.825M to add one Center. Or?

With the somewhat of a log jam at D and lack of a true #1 center would u guys feel comfortable trading McD? I know Shattty said one of the reasons he came here was to play with him but in 2 years he's due for a big raise. That would assume Skjei and Smith would be our top pair with Shatty and Holden #2. Play a year with Staal and Deangelo as 3rd pair and hope Day can be ready by next year to replace Staal.

Just something to think about, McD will be 30 when his contract is up. He's earned his raise and is a great player, but likely will want 7+ at 30.

I have it at 11.25 also. I agree with those numbers as well +/- 250-400k.

I've wasted a lot of time on capfriendly the last 2 days. The Rangers should be fine this year and next. It's 2019-2020 that could get hairy. Zucc and McD are up that year, but it's a long way away and trades will happen.

I'll predict it now that Brendan Smith will only play 2 years as a Ranger. Nothing personal. Just business.

No way, why strengthen the D only to weaken it? Would of rather kept Stepan, and McD, than unknown C, and Shatt. (if you trade Ms D)
Let Hayes take the next step to 2C

Fair enough. Snarkiness aside, I would say let's see how McD looks this year will a strong partner and a few less minutes per game. I think he's gonna have a great year, as long as he's healthy. Then we'll talk trade.

But what if McD could be the center price for a true #1C like Mackinnon? McD and Step for Mackinnon and Shatty?

I don't think he's slowing down in the next 2 years, but at 30 he's going to want to get paid. He took a big discount last contract for us. That's not something I forget, but he's due to get paid at 30.

If Zib would have been healthy last year he tops 50-55 points (prorated).
I understand that's not 1C production, but he's still only 24, and is coming into his prime.
Zib's 4-7=11 PP points can only get better as well with more power play time, and Shattenkirk quarterbacking it.

Hayes PP numbers should increase with more time as well, (1-6=7 PP points).
Hayes barely saw the PP last year.

I had included Kampfer salary in the total, taking that out, makes it about $11.25 mil
