Calm down there, BiggE. He did it once and only broke into double digits two other times. Yes, he was a better player than given credit for being, but Dave Schultz and goal scorer should rarely be used in the same sentence. lol - Scoob

So our goalie options to pair with Neuvirth for 17-18 are:
A. Stolarz
B. re-sign Mason
C. re-sign some other UFA, none of which are as good as Mason
D. try and trade for the overpriced and overrated MAF
E. try and trade for the way overpriced Lehtonen
F. try and trade for some other so-so veteran goalie
G. try and trade for a relatively unproven younger goalie
H. make a blockbuster deal for a legit top end starter
I. Hextall comes out of retirement
J. Bernie Parent finds a time machine, and then comes out of retirment
K. we comb the visitors locker room for a stray hair and clone Carey Price
Hmm, I'm leaning towards B, but I'm cool with J or K as well. - BiggE
The Knights are using Fleury in all their advertising. He was acquired with the idea he is their starter and anchor. He knew he was going there before the draft and his wife was there in Vegas scouting real estate and schools before the draft. He was one of the few draftees informed in advance and available the night of the event to put on the sweater and be lauded by the crowd. He isn't going anywhere. He was never going anywhere but LV.

The Flyers had already scheduled all the 50th anniversary celebrations (and there were SO MANY) before the HOF announcement last year, which is why not last year (I was told by Flyers). I expect (but have no inside knowledge) that he'll get that honor this coming season. |

Yup.
And I'd say with almost just as much certainty that Mason isn't an option either. Guy made it pretty clear that he doesn't want to share the crease and admitted that he struggles more when he does. |

I believe they should only retire jerseys when the player is elected into the HHOF and spent a vast majority of their career here. ummm Lindros. |

Mason is going to be a sad panda then, I can't see any team that is going to guarantee that he will be the unquestioned #1 guy. If that's his biggest concern, I hope he enjoys cold weather and borscht.

Yeah it was either Somik or Timander, I can't remember which, but neither had ever fought before. - BiggE
I believe that Chara fought Timander and Neil fought Somik. I still can't see why Ottawa got so pissed off at Brashear fighting Rob Ray. |

I'd have zero problems retiring Eric's number. Regardless of where Eric went after the trade, when any hockey fan thinks of Eric, they think of the Flyers. |

yep - retiring of a number should be an extremely rare occurrence for a truly special/extraordinary reason - Scoob
Flyers have a set standard that a player that played for them and is inducted to the HOF, they have their number retired. The question becomes how many games or seasons does a player have to play for them to be considered.
