Jets are thin at LD. Their original asking price for Trouba was a comparable LD. That's the only part of that deal that makes sense. - Victoro311
Problem is we don't have a comparable LD. Dumo and Maatta are a class below Trouba. |

The reason I want Bones back, is because he seems like such a perfect fit for this team...honestly...plus, he has been really good in the playoffs. I would love if him and Cully were both back...would make things a lot easier. - Thorny
Bones has been a clutch playoff performer the past two seasons. I don't really care what he does in the regular season. He's perfect for what the Penguins need out of their 3rd line center in the playoffs, and for that I would overpay slightly. |

Maatta, hornqvist, 2018 1st. Then after this year trade hagelin for a bit of cap relief |

I don't need any fancy stats for this either. |

Nail Yakupov won't be receiving a qualifying offer from the Blues. Pick him up on a one year deal to see if he can turn it around with a elite center? Pens don't really need another RW but it's an idea. - Zac_O
You probably should. Picking up the oilers scraps for a bargain has worked well for the pens...

Perron not so much haha |

Grigorenko is ufa now? Does he interest us? Good size and draft pedigree. Surprised he wasn't qualified. 10 goals last year? Maybe a buy low like Schultz that can trained under a better team to replace bones. |

I wouldn't mind signing Grigorenko on the cheap as a speculative pick up, but I wouldn't want to sign him penciled in as a 3C. He hasn't shown much in the NHL. |

Perron was great for his first 20 something games. Then he got them Hagelin, so I think he was good for the Pens overall. |

If Cullen isn't coming back he'd be a solid 4th line guy. Hey you never know if we do sign him he could turn out to be solid for us |

Ya that would be preferred. If we fail to find a 3c chance he is coached up for the playoffs. |

Eh, probably worse than the other proposal for the Jets. Horny is a guy who will help a contender (which the Jets aren't yet and probably won't be when Horny is a FA at the end of the season). Our first round pick is not worth very much. I'm guessing GMs don't think much of Maatta, either. Most were probably around when they passed on him in the draft until he dropped to the Pens. |

The more I think about it, the less likely it is that the Pens land Trouba, especially if we re-sign Schultz (which I think we should do). But then we pay him to be a 3RD if Trouba is our overqualified and soon to be overpaid 2RD. I would be all for moving Letang and making Trouba our 1RD if we got a good return out of it. But that is highly improbable.
It's sooooo annoying that we selected Pouliot one pick ahead of Trouba. |

Ya Trouba aint happening...
Schultz is prolly coming back, easily their biggest offseason signing
Pouliot will get his last kick at the can this year. He has to work his ass off otherwise Ruhwedel will own his spot for the season.
Can easily see Daley back, he fits well and isn't expensive
I think Hanzal will be pursued if Bonino leaves... thinkin Predators as reported, could see him going there. It may be the year to tinker with the roster. Getting Hanzal or someone of his level would be beneficial. Round out the 4LC with Brian Boyle. |

I don't see any way of getting Trouba without parting with Sprong, Maatta and a high pick.
I can see Daley back too. Not sure if I like that.
Hanzal and Boyle will be too expensive IMO. I think Rowney will be our 4th line center. |

Hanzal is injury prone and is going to seek a long term deal that I don't want to give a 30 year old center, Boyle is overrated as hell because he's tall. |

A 40-year old who's numbers declined significantly last season and who's recovering from a torn ACL/MCL and seeking a multi-year deal for a lot more than $1 million a year? Here's hoping they aren't. Would rather they throw money at Cullen, even if it's for a little more on a one year deal. Based on what I've seen from Thornton over the past two post-seasons, I think Cullen brings more to the table from what one would want from a 3rd, 4th line center and one that would fit the Pens up tempo game.
If Cullen hangs em up, I would still shy away from Thornton unless he can be had for Cullen-like money and terms. Then again, he still tries to play a physical game (note: tries) and JR is looking to add that where he can, so nothing would surprise me right now, especially after signing Reeves. |

Rowney could do it, haven't seen how effective he can be in the middle yet |
