The way things stand right now the Hawks will need to replace a ton of scoring and that only gets worse if they trade Anisimov who had 45 points in only 64 games which equates to about 57 points jn 82 games. It seems every new season the corner Bowman boxed himself into gets smaller and smaller. The good news is that there is still plenty of time before the season stars to bring in those desperately needed high scoring players.

Every C who plays with Kane scores, even guys on fumes like Handzus and Richards were.

Anisimov is a useful player, especially parking his big Russian butt in front of goalies on the PP, but he is not an irreplaceable offensive force. An Evander Kane or Galchenyuk opposite Patrick Kane, with some homeless guy off the expressway at center, will provide plenty of offense. So, before we declare dealing AA "madness" I would wait and see what the return is.

Jenner is a popular player in Columbus, and Anisimov while he was appreciated in Cbus does not have the same profile. I realize it is not just up to the fans, but every big deal like that requires a sell job to some degree.

Personally, I think it would take AA and a decent prospect or a 1st to get Jenner. But Cbus also has 3 other options on the port side, ranging from high upside futures like Dubois and Milano to serviceable vet guys with perhaps sneaky upside like Calvert.

Calvert is a guy who can play in all situations, has some skill and speed and is tough as nails for his size. You put him opposite Kane and he definitely gets 20+ goals. You probably get an added piece back from Cbus with Calvert where Jenner, Milano or Dubois require the Hawks to sweeten.

Still say Cbus makes some sense for AA for these reasons.

JJ-
You have written that you see/follow a CBJ quite a bit.
I see Panarin as a fine add for them with his particular skillset (Although he needs to continue to develop his back-check). Do you agree?
Myself, I am already seeing this as a win-win for both teams...
Thanks!

poop... I'd make it a first round pick. You're getting youth, size, COMPETE, a 25+ goal scorer. Wonder what he would put up with Kane?? and a cycle player... a lot like Saad and Toews.

I think that's where the price stands right now for Galchenyuk as well: AA and a 1st. Hawks have hesitated. Or so I heard a week or so ago.

I am a big Alex Wennberg fan and I can see Panarin benefiting greatly from playing with him. Panarin could put up big numbers.

Panarin is a double threat, he can shoot AND setup, which he may get more chance to do with Cbus.

JJ - any word on what Galchenyuk is asking for with his next contract?

That might offer some hesitation as well with Stan & Co.

Sign me up. Jenner is exactly the type of skilled power forward the Hawks need in the Top 6.

I would like to see Galchenyuk or Kane or Neal (feels strange saying that )
But I wouldn't mind a guy like Calvert or another guy who can pot 15-20 goals as a middle six guy with speed.

I'll be the first to acknowledge that it is unrealistic to happen... BUT..

Schmaltz-Jenner-Kane

Or

Saad-Toews-Jenner (look the (frank) out)

Because that is a hefty price for a guy coming off knee surgery and is not signed to any type of contract. I would say "AA+ 2nd and you'll like it."

Hawks med staff could eval him prior to signing a deal yes?

Still the problem is inherently that the Blackhawks do not have a 2nd in 2018(Fleischman/Weise trade). This means if they part with their 2018 1st then they do not have a pick for the first 2 rounds UNLESS they make another trade which fetches one in return.

Being healthy and being 100% aren't the same, especially after a knee surgery. Just ask Versteeg or Keith.

Agreed, parting with a first round pick and AA, meaning no picks in the first two rounds of 2018, for a guy that is coming off major knee surgery is to me a very stupid decision.

Not saying they shouldn't do it but I think Bergevin is pricing the guy too high and it needs to come down to Earth.

What's the cap hit on the homeless guy?

Well they could not afford him at $2 million per, without question, nor likely Wingels at $3 mil per.

This and the basics of filling out a roster, where they are cap-wise today, etc should tell you what they need to do beyond just losing Kruger's hit.

And let me say this, AS OPTIMISTIC AS I'VE BEEN about these two deals last week, if SB doesn't pull at least one more rabbit out of his hat in the next couple of weeks, this is pretty much a soft rebuild, and the results will likely have people calling for a full rebuild next summer.

Bowman did some interesting things last week, but if he wants to make any kind of run this year, his work can't be done yet.

Personally, I think they have two more deals essentially in the can. Or maybe one, with high confidence on getting another done.

I don't know what the hawks do to backfll Hossa's spot after the first game of the year, what, do they sign Jay McKee?

One possibility I guess is they package like DeBrincat and a pick for a nice $5 million player from some team on a rebuild. Maybe?

Seems to me something has to be done soon while the market is fluid and there's still buyers and sellers—before the market is Tomas Vanek and Dan Girardi. And versteeg (that was for TT Time).

See what I posted a few blogs ago. Daly is just blowing smoke to placate the usual whining and lobbying form other teams about cap circumvention. You cannot force a guy to play when he depends on steroids and powerful anti-inflammatories to do so that otherwise affect his long term health—and stop working to prevent the underlying condition. Or the league would face a significant lawsuit by the PA.

As fara ss the suspicious timing, this condition has been there for at least two years. He could have retired at any time and instead kept trying/playing. Yes, this is as good a time as any to stop. So?

The league will allow the Hawks to place him on LTIR.

Only question is when.

Agreed, but he didn't wait in the first two deals this summer. I think he knows what he needs to do.
