Seriously, who here isn't ridiculously anxious for the next presser when some reporter asks Q about losing Hammer. I think we get even odds of either crying uncontrollably, or throwing the mic. - Chunk
He got a big beefy guy named Connor Murphy to stick in that spot and mold into his stay at home image. |

With Hossa gone/done. Saad can play the PK. Panarin does not. - Rota's Rooter
Indeed. I cannot forget his short handed goals against Ducks in 2015 in very tight series, which also deflated Ducks PP. No Saad, no 2015 championship. Very happy for this trade, would do this in a heartbeat.

Gordie Murphy's son seemed to be more comfortable on Arizona's backline this last season, they other years he looked hesitant and slow in his decisions, movement.
Q's good buddy was the head coach there until getting fired; I wonder if he was in on a consultation.
All I have to say is Forsberg better be the real deal.
If I was rebuilding and you asked me whether I wanted to start with Panarin (and his two playoff performances) or Saader, I wouldn't pick Saad. A goal and three points in this year's playoff in five games IS better than Artemi's on PP assists and a minus 4 but...
as far as the parts,
here's what I thought when they came out:
https://www.draftsite.com...er/laurent-dauphin/19833/
https://www.draftsite.com...ayer/connor-murphy/16931/
i can see why they didn't wait until the draft...they would have been booed out of their home arena, Vap solution or no....

Think this got lost in the whirlwind other blog, but where does Raddysh fit in? Strictly Rockford for now, or could see some NHL time this year? Didn't realize he was the other "A" with Debrincat - HawksHype
Raddysh signed with the Hogs not the Hawks. He'll be in Rockford this year, all year. One year, $300k I believe. That can get you a nice trailer in Rockford. Maybe even get one with the wheels already off and skirting. |

How about Kruger to LVG for Nate Schmidt or Kruger+Forsling for Theodore? |

What about filling Hoss's spot? We still are no deeper on the left side and are weaker on ther right. I love the Panarin for Saad trade, but we are still a worse team than a week ago - cnfan261311
Hard to fill Hossa's shoes, honestly. Saad is a start. |

Lost in some of the hype is the Forsberg trade. The Hawks were in desperate need of a goalie and I'd imagine he'll get a shot at the back-up role. I believe you reported the Hawks were interested in him earlier this season. - DarthKane
Think it was two years ago and Bob was out and Korpisallo was playing well but went into a funk and Forsberg got a few games. I saw those games and the kid looked very good. Big, mobile and technical. Went back down and won a cup in the AHL.... I really think they had Korpo penciled in as the #2 in the organIzation until that year but Forseberg made them look at that again. Kid has the look and game. |

I just know the Hawks loved Dauphin as a Kruger-type defensive center in the draft a few years ago, but AZ got him ahead of them in rd. 2, and Murphy is a nice developable, future top 4 guy who can play 3rd pair this year
BUT, I think there is now a question on D that will need to be addressed/backfilled somehow. - John Jaeckel
This makes sense, because right now IMHO the Hawks have gotten worse defensively. Not conducive to a long playoff run. |

this is a very good hockey trade for both teams...i am surprised cbj moved saad...
hoosa gone...they needed a big 2 way forward..also 4 years of contract control vs 2 for panarin... - bogiedoc
I am surprised too for Blue Jackets, they should be contending for cup and Saad clearly brings it on extra gear when needed. Wonder why they felt they needed regular season power play goal scorer. Maybe they value Motte that much that they felt it compensates them?

Wasn't aware it was strictly Rockford. Thought I read somewhere that due to the roster freeze, they had Rockford sign him. It's that made up mumbo jumbo that I always believe. Thanks. |

I'm no scout just a goof who watches teenagers play and know a tough little SOB who has north-south speed and grit when I see one. To say he's a message board legend makes me grit my teeth and most times I can walk away without responding but not with a kid like this who pays the price. You see it at 16 you know it's in his DNA .........May never be a 5-600 game NHLer but a tough little hombre with some skill. Not unlike a few of the Pens bottom 6 guys. - Mr Ricochet
And the sort of asset this team and system lack. They have to give to get but Motte may end up being one we regret later. If Forsberg pans out it will hurt less.
Now, please sign Cal Peterson so the organization gains some depth at G.

Hopefully the stick check ballet is over on defense and these boys with Ulf's help start to play with a little more nasty...
Hoping Stan isn't done yet...still some moves to be made...
also wouldn't mind them signing the local kid Wingels... - DK002

Because his line scored a ton of regular season goals, with OZ starts. Not because they were great defensively. - tvetter
He beat both his linemates and only Keith beat him out for first place buy only 4 points so there is something there besides being a one way only player. Fact. |

Panarin, Hossa, TVR, Darling and Hjalmarsson will not be here when camp opens.
Most probably Kruger will be gone too for a draft pick with no salary coming back.
If they can move Anisimov and only take back a $3 mil salary the Hawks will have about $3 mil in cap space this summer and another $5.3 mil on day 2 of the season. They could try to sign a vet like Dan Giradi(RHD)/Oduya(LHD)/Gagner(2/3C) on the cheap this summer. Then they will have have $5.3 mil after the season starts or at the TDL to be a buyer.

Jeez first off I've enjoyed reading jj and his thoughts on the Blackhawks, their prospects, players and needs! As I've said before! But when you say,...I told you! ..I went back and read that YOUR source said panarin for Neal +a young dman from Vegas! no mention of Columbus! And can things change at last moment, sure but to say I told you! I just sounds ek like and hedging your bets? And then Hammer going to Arizona! Nowhere I mean not even a hint! For any SOURCES to be clued out on two for your major players getting traded and not even a hint of where they ended up! Anyone could and did suggest that Chicago would be trying to trade panarin and Hammer! It was all speculation! it's like me saying that the leafs are trading for a dman! Sorry man not trolling! But you need to ask your SOURCE (not doubting that you have one!)but ask him where the frank were you when this went down!! I

The "x-factor" in getting Saad back, will this also get Toews back
Kane will be fine if you or I play on his wing. This team can't live with Toews being dead weight at 10.5m. So the speed wing with puck possession in Saad may/hopefully improve Toews play

I'm hoping the hawks can shoot for drafting Jaret Anderson-Dolan in the second round. Kid is a gritty hard worker who gives 100% to hockey all day, every day. Plays for the junior club here. We have the 57 pick, and he's ranked in the 40s, unfortunately. |

E Kane might be a really solid player for the Hawks. I think a large part of his "issues" (whatever they may be) has been empowered by the fact that he was on young teams. I think the Hawks leadership in the room could alleviate any issues that exist. - SolidGoldBricks
GM's will always have an excuse to take a chance on freakish talent like E Kane. GM's both win cups and lose their jobs with guys like him. He's a freakish talent that if he puts it together he's a top 20 NHL player. |
