OK, so that is fairly wide open to interpretation, LOL - John Jaeckel
i can see him being a bit upset over Nik leaving but he has to be super happy to be getting the manchild back. |

I thought the rumor came out before the Saad deal - maybe he went to conference with Stan about it. - StLBravesFan
I heard he was late for an appointment to get his stache trimmed and styled. |

If Thorton was willing to sign for Brad Richards money, I say go for it. But that's a big ask.
But man, wouldn't Schmaltz-Thorton-Kane look pretty good? Or Hartman-Thorton-Kane? - L_B_R
I still think EKane is the next one to get for AA in some fashion...still move Kruger

Natural RW, not real fast, 30+, will want to get paid and/or want term, this sounds like a rumor the agent started, honestly. I have asked over and over whether they are actually interested in him. No one I know close to the team has heard it. Doesn't mean they aren't. But it just doesn't add up.
At least E. Kane and Neal are left wings. - John Jaeckel
I know some see TJ as cutesey player from his Blues term, the one who thrives on regular season with shootouts, but from watching last 2 seasons playoffs Caps/Penguins, he was probably the best on the ice for Caps. Had all the energy and motivation and brought up danger every shift. So he might be a good asset during playoffs for the right team.
I understand all the arguments against him (old, expensive, etc) just wanted to add that there is another side to this.

Dunno about stormed off, but he did get up and leave in a cab, apparently.

Joel QuenJoel Quenneville just walked out of the coach's meeting at the League's official Draft hotel, got in a cab and left. - L_B_R
Again, guys get fired up. Guys disagree. Doesn't always mean there's more to it.
He could have just been mad because he didn't agree with the trades and left to cool off. |

Yes - LCL only - no ACL - Return of the Roar
Huge difference.
But I go back to 2010. If he got his cage rattled by The Rat in the WCF, what will he be like 8 seasons later when another Rat-like player does the same thing?
OT: Space-X liftoff. |

I am trying not to think of any line combos right now because I still think there is at least one more move. Maybe more. Dont know who goes and dont know who comes back. Also dont know what is happening with Hossa situation. |

This is the beauty of it. His jobs - win faceoffs, feed Kane. As a 2C. Less pressure, and who does the rat of the future get sent out against, Toews or Joe?
Matchup problems galore.

Gotta think the moves are:
- Kruger
- AA
- 3/4D
- 2LW or 2C (depending on where you see Schmaltz)
This could be done in 2 moves, or 4. |

I don't even think it should be read as 'stormed off' or 'fired up' - he literally just left a meeting with no context to his mood. Could have been called away because they want his impact on another trade, who knows. |

Keith, Seabs, Kempny, Rutta, Forsling, and Murphy is a lot of unknown but a lot of potential. I dont think they go in with that. Maybe Anisimov gets moved with Forsling for another Forward and then use cap space to sign a d man? or the other way around...Itll be interesting to see what happens. I hope it happens tonight. |

Yes there is more to hockey than points, and Saad doesn't bring those other elements. I had him in fantasy hockey last year he was a streaky bum.
He would go 5 games and score 8 points, then he would go 10 games and score 1 assist.
Saad had 24 hits and 22 blocked shots the entire season. Barely more than Phil Kessel.
Ok, he doesn't throw hits and he doesn't block shots.. Maybe he's good at stealing the puck?
He ranked 88th in the NHL in "takeaways" with 43 on the season. Decent, but not great.
Not saying that Saad is a bad hockey player, but I think Panarin is at least 1 or 2 levels above him.
It's like comparing Crosby to Krejci - bochangs
You could not be more wrong. The Hawks absolutely fleeced the Blue Jackets. This is the dumbest thing Columbus has done since it picked its name and logo. Saad is a far better multi-dimensional player than the uni-dimensional Panarin. Wait until Torts get a load of strictly offensive Panarin - Torts will blow a freakin' gasket. It is going to be hysterical to watch.

Stan better do something else, we're now stuck with discussing Coach Q's potential flatulence. |

2C vs 1C could be big. Good point. Just a tad leery. Now, if The Price Is Right ....... |

I'd rather talk about coach Q's than Stanley's.
I still think the play is moving AA for E.Kane. Give him a shot as P. Kane's LW, see how he is off the ice.
Also, Kruger and Forsling for Theodore from LVG! |

These opinions are coming from people who have probable watched less than 10 games of either player. Yes, Saad is regular season streaky. So was Panarin but Saad is unquestionably a better fit for this roster with Hossa gone. Saad is more of a speed threat, more of a physical presence, and can help L1 as well as L2. The fact he is younger, more cost controlled, can help on the PK, and possibly help revitalize Toews really makes it sort of a no brainer. |

Saad will improve your two-way game, which will be extremely necessary having lost Hammer.
Not sure he can make up for the production of Panarin though. |

He doesn't have to if he makes his line mates better. |
