If he was getting 1.5 m, people would be suggesting we re-sign him for 3.5m.
people are funny.

I don't blame Sbisa for that contract either.

You're a fool not to take a suckers money.

Bring back the Sedins

Will suffer if Vegas takes Sbisa

Has anyone in here looked at the standing in the last three years?

How about letting younger faster bigger stronger players taking those spots instead of two old men that have to hold hands? Why do you have to bring back both?Daniel did d1ck all last year
- VANTEL

Unfortunately they are a package. They will retire at the same time. I'm not disagreeing with you. I'm just thinking the franchise owes it to them.

Let's put it this way, it's my last season cheering for them.
- A_SteamingLombardi

I predict a minimum of 4mil a season each and it is just one season at a time.

and I can't argue with Vantel about Daniel. We are keeping them around as mentors and Daniel giving up on a play with the puck ending up in the back of our net might not be a good example to set for the youngins.

The franchise owes them 1 more year of salary, after that they can retire or figure out where else to play.

Vancouver needs to do what Arizona is doing to Shane Doan, chucking him into free agency so he can "chase a cup" (even though he's too slow to make an NHL team)

I don't think you'd find many on here who actually disagree with Vantel or really want the Sedin's to keep playing...it's more just a pragmatic acceptance of how this will likely play out.

We don't need a package . We need to free up some spots and try new things . The last thing we need is doing the same thing over and over and getting the same results.

ring of honour minimum. great players for the club. hopefully if they have another season like last one, JB isn't offering a contract.

I guess whether they are extended should depend upon the players available and if they can fill a role.

do we want to see them as 2nd pp unit while playing 14 minutes a night?

Probably not but is there any chance that the Sedins will be traded?

One budget team I see that can be interested is Carolina. They have tons of cap space (actually need to take in more cap to get to the floor) and a very good defense, but lack forward depth. If Vancouver retains 50% they can maybe trade both the Sedins for something like Haydn Fleury + a 3rd. Gives you a decent defensive prospect (which I'm sure you can use), and you can really tank.

Would give Carolina:

Skinner - Rask - Lindholm
Aho - Sedin - Sedin
Teravainen - Staal - McGinn/Stempniak (who ever gets picked by LV)
Nordstrom - Ryan - Di Giuseppe

Gives them a legit shot. Just fantasizing here, got too much beer.

yes. This and their play next season should realistically dictate if they are re-signed.

The franchise has paid them many millions of dollars, this owe it to them line of thinking is silly (IMO).

Benning, during the previous mentioned squire Barnes interview, also mentioned that a replacement for Henrik is needed and Sedin signing will be assessed after season (paraphrasing).
After missing out last draft, there is no doubt in my mind that a centre WILL be chosen.

Edit: he never once mentioned Daniel, but, mentioned Henrik 3 or 4 times.

I don't see a lot of 27 year old, 6'2, 210 lbs Dmen that can skate and hit being available.
I could be wrong.

lol...the guy is a bottom pairing dman..i dont care what his scouting report says. Bartkowski can skate and hit too

I agree.
Never understood the hate myself, thought he played well last year and really reduced the glaring mistakes that seemed to cause so much panic the earlier year.
I like him, hope we keep him.

- dbot

the only time he's ever looked decent for a long stretch is when paired with Tanev.

Vantel would probably look decent if paired with Tanev

Horrendously overpaid since 2011. The Franchise has paid/recognized them more than enough. At some point you have to start winning and stop praising terrible play because two guys that never won a cup for you are making the HOF a decade from now.

Let's hope JB/Trev just lets them go.

Vantel is the type of top line puck mover we need.
