Thats the sense I got from it too. Might be nitpicking on words, but he originally said they liked 3-4 players at that spot. Then when prompted on Glass he said they liked him and 3-4 other players.

in a less then stellar draft a cost friendly Defenceman in his prime years could be seen as equal value to an unproven draft pick that may or may not make it to the NHL. like it or not there are precedent setting trades and preconceived values associated with right shot defencemen and their value in the open market. Is it likely , probably not , but possible ? yes.

There are literally DOZENS of more talented and more valuable D-men than Tanev... D-O-Z-E-N-S!! A D who has pretty much missed a full season with his injuries over the past four seasons. Availability however, is a different thing all together. That said, can you honestly sit there and agree that Tanev alone is worth the 3OA + an "A" prospect?
