Sully post game:
"We're not gonna put pucks on net when the opportunity for a clear shot isn't there and turn it over." (paraphrased)
I think the guys have taken this to heart a bit too well but he isn't wrong. |

No goalie is saving that, but yeah, Rinne is starting next game no doubt. Fire away! |

Yeah....gotta get pucks on net. I think the Pens were more focused on putting the puck on net last year. This year they've been a little more stubborn trying to make perfect plays. |

I'm sure we will see a better effort in that regard for the games in nashville...hoping for a split. |

Fear of a missed shot riming the boards and causing a foot race for our D?
Last years team was a freight train, this years team is a snow plow. |

I gotta say, Bones had a hell of a game without showing up on the score sheet. He was great defensively. 61% at the dot. - madmike71
Especially considering he took that wicked shot off the foot/ankle. |

Morning all.
Fun facts:
Did you know, last night Evgeni Malkin was the first player in eight years to score a goal and receive a fighting major in a Stanley Cup Final game?
Do you know who the last player was?
Evgeni Malkin.

Rinne is broken. Maybe he gets enough people to put him back together again all miracle humpty dumpty style, but barring that miracle, he's like King Henry. Something in his brain is broken playing against the Pens and even if he's the teams best goaltender, they'd almost be smarter to NOT play him & hope the backup can ignore that baggage. |

Gotta love how PK looked like he was shot in the back of the head by Kunitz with a sawed off...then took part in the ensuing PP.
Massive win last night for a few reasons. Just gotta hope to at least split in Nashville. Thats a hard place to play and their backs are against the wall...see what happens. |

Guentzel's numbers are just staggering for a guy who just played half a season in the NHL. Rewrote the American rookie recordbook last night and has a chance to add top rookie in goals and points to most GWGs for a rookie in NHL history. |

Must be nice to be up 2-0 when you've been out played badly in both games.
This years Conn Smythe has got to be the refs, they've given you a few important games now.

The offensive game hasn't been there like last playoffs but he's gotten in the way of a ton of shots and passes again this run. |

Not really any harder a place to play than most. Their home record wasn't anything amazing this season. Granted they've only lost one game there in these playoffs so far, but home ice advantage is typically magnified during the playoffs.
I'm actually liking the Penguins chances better playing a road game as far as allowing them to better dictate offensively than they do at home. A little less East-West and more North-South. Maybe get a couple dirty goals also and stop being so concerned with making the perfect pass, etc. with their perimeter game. The PP sure couldn't get any worse. |
