I for one am way ahead of the game and am already terribly disappointed in whoever we draft at #2

I think it makes more sense for the Devils to take Nico tbh. Higher offensive threat when the Devils are legitimately one of the worst scoring teams in the league. And the injury history issue I look at like this: Shero is effectively picking for his rival team as well. If he takes Patrick and the groin issue comes back while Nico is shining with us it's going to look incredibly poorly on their front office.

Perhaps that's looking too far into things but when the guy you don't take ends up with your rival I think you need to consider every avenue of the selection, for both teams involved.

Hexy won't think too much, he will take the player NJ doesn't.

Obviously. I'm talking about Shero's perspective.

Luckily, the combine is this week. Patrick will have the most scrutinized physical in recent memory. This has been recognized as the Nolan Patrick draft for a few years. Would Shero pass on "the prospect " of this draft if his physical comes back positive ? I'm at the opposite end and say no, that's what makes the debate so interesting.

Thoughts on Ek's statement about Drouin? I wouldnt be opposed to packaging a prospect on d and a player (within reason) to get Drouin though I think it takes more than that at which point Im out.. Still adding Drouin + the second overall pick accelerates where the Flyers are pretty quick.....

On Jonathan Drouin...

Drouin appears to be VERY much on the radar of the Flyers. (e4) The Flyers could offer up the best package and include a stud young d man...which Tampa is requiring... Colorado and Nashville are also in the running.. It really looks like Drouin will NOT be a member of the Lightning...

I wold not trade any of the Flyers top defense prospects right now for Drouin.

I would. Deal from strength, add in a 4th. We have 3 of them. Add in a 3rd if that doesn't get it done. If they want more, then tough muffins.

I wouldnt be in a hurry to move any D prospects. I'd like the Flyers to see what they have first. Am I opposed to making such a trade at a later date? Nope. Not at all.

Do we have 3 of them that we know are going to be good NHL defenseman?

If its not Provorov, Sandheim, or Ghost, I might entertain the deal. Dealing from a position of strength to shore up a position of weakness while still remaining strong.

No, but we have plenty of evidence that Drouin is going to be a good forward.

I personally don't feel that it is a position of strength for the Flyers now. None of the prospects are a guarantee. What if the one defenseman we trade is the only one who turns out to be a top defenseman? If and when they all show that they are going to be good NHL defenseman, then we can say with a have a surplus and might be able to deal one to shore up another area. Defense has been an issue for this team for considerable amount of time. Now is not the time to start messing with that before we even know what we have.

I'd rather wait and see what we have with Konecny, Lindholm, and the #2 pick.

Within reason I would and depending on where in this list below also adjusts the additional player going the other way. Drouin is a dynamic , young forward..
Again within reason if you could acquire him to go with the number 2 overall and the other prospects I think we are in amazing shape.

NO WAY

What if the one defenseman we trade turns out to be a bust..It can go both ways and is just as likely as that one dman being a stud.

Sometimes you have to take a risk and I would view trading a prospect , not named Provy , as an acceptable risk given what the gain could be.

I meant 4th round picks. Quit being so (frank)ing argumentative all the time. The first time I reply to you in about 2 months and you're picking a fight.

I'm not saying I'm in a hurry to move them, but I'm part of the Drouin camp. As someone said earlier, Drouin + #2 seriously changes the outlook of this offense. I think it's worth the dman going back the other way. As I said though, I'm not giving them anything higher than an additional 3rd rounder.

Jonathan Drouin

2014-15: 32 points in 70 games

2015-16: 10 points in 21 games / season mired with injury and drama of Drouin's own doing

2016-17: 53 points in 73 games

Yeah, Tampa isn't getting one of our top D prospects for him.

I'd trade Morin and a 4th or a 3rd. If they say no, then peace.

Provy, Ghost, Meyers, and Sanheim are going nowhere

I'd seriously consider a ghost/drouin swap although flyers would prob have to add. If Tampa is in a precarious spot with the cap and they are looking for young d this could be a great spot for hexy to catch them

Why not see how Lindblom and the #2 looks first? That way you to get to keep a D prospect too.

Your logic is sound. I think this is the way the Flyers go, for what it's worth.

If it's me, I see the prospect depth, and feel comfortable dealing Morin because of it. If that happens, and we get a skilled forward with promise, I'm ok with it. If it doesn't, I'm also ok with it
