place your bets....do you think the Flyers make a trade in the next 3 weeks?
- YuenglingJagr

maybe not three weeks, but I do think June could be a a very busy trade month.

This doesn't make sense. Where I think he is or any other poster on HB thinks, is irrelevant. It matters what the Flyers think. Make all the generalizations you want. Duncan Keith spent two years in the AHL. Everyone wants the shiny new toys. If he's ready then he should make the team. To be determined. I want what is best for the player.
- MJL

So you're just trying to talk pucks, but your opinion on how he is progressing is irrelevant? seems almost like there are other intentions...

I realize that...and I think it could be very busy, But with the draft near the end of the month and the lack of July 1rst star power available, I think the time frame may be extended a bit. It probably helps that a team like Ottawa was that close.....It gives hope to some teams that say...."we are pretty close to a team like the Senators" maybe we are only a player or two away. I know I don't think the Flyers are nearly as far away as some always seem to say. Yes, things have to fall a certain way, but I really do believe The Flyers are a team that could make a huge leap next year.

Ask him how many times he saw Sanheim this year. I think that will answer your question.

Ottawa made several changes to their team like trading for Phaneuf and getting a real coach. Anderson also had a playoff run where he looked like he found the fountain of youth. We are not on the same level at this point a lot would have to go right and we'd have to ride some hot goaltending to repeat and they fell in a very weak atlantic division.

The 2nd year was the 04-05 lockout. Also Keith was more similar in size and pedigree to Ghost, than to Sanheim.

The more relevant point is that Sanheim outplayed Morin and Hagg on the phantoms this season.

- Feanor

The most relevant point is that if Sanheim is ready for the NHL then he should make the team. I don't want any of the young defenseman held back because there is a veteran in front of them.

I'm not sure the Senators should be used as some template. They had some things break their way, they are as 1 player a team as a team can get having maybe the best player in the league, and they trapped their way to the Conference Finals. Boucher did the best he could with that roster, but it's not hard to see this just being a fluky one-off without serious changes up and down their lineup. Because that is not a contending team or even close on paper. The rest of their defense is trash, and they only have a handful of good forwards, mostly complimentary 2nd/3rd line types, none of which I'd call "star" caliber. Maybe Mark Stone. It's not enough though.

You asked me where Sanheim is in his development. In determining whether he is ready for the NHL it's irrelevant. I have not offered an opinion one way or the other.

If Pittsburgh had Letang and a better defense, in my opinion it would have been a much shorter series.

I think his point was that being NHL ready and making the Flyers roster aren't always the same thing.

Do you think it is possible that he is what the team would deem "ready" after one season in the AHL?

He's a fine player, but he's not a Cup caliber 1C to me. I could see him being even a 1B-type, like a Krejci, but he's not enough. He's never been a strong enough 5v5 scorer or player, except maybe in a peak year. Not sold on White or Brown being that either, but maybe they could be good 2Cs. They expected more from Brassard, who is close to Turris when he's on. Both need contracts after next year though. Any value boost they got from Turris will be gone. They've also always been a penny pinching team with their cheap owner. Stone and Hoffman are both solid 1st liners in their different ways, if not elite. Maybe either could be the 3rd best forward on a Cup team. That defense is absolute trash though. Chabot will help, we'll see how much. And you need more depth than that.

If they miss the playoffs next year, I wouldn't even be shocked.

jesus...i just said i liked him lol

Yeah, I mean...I don't disagree. I wouldn't want Turris as my top center, but then again I wouldn't want Stepan as mine either
