Phaneuf 32, 7.0 for the next 4 years.... ROFL, talk that one up any way you want. He sucked.

Ryan, 30, 7.25 for 5 years. Had some bright spots in playoffs been useless for the year... will not improve at this point

MacArthur 32, 4.65 for 3 more years

Zack Smith 29, 3.25 for 4 more years

Turris, 27 Good second line center. At 27 he is not going to become more than that. He has one more year, and then he is going to get more than 4.

Anderson 36, Burrows 36, Methot 32, Brassard 29 ... not going to get better.

So 9 guys who are going to decline and 4 guys making 22+ on a budget team, who are not tradeable,

You have Karlsson @6.5 for 2 more years... what do you think it takes to re-sign one of the top 5 players in the league?

It's a beautiful day today!

Karlsson to the Leafs 2019

I take no pleasure in saying this (I liked Mac - heck, I still do) but I fear that he won't play out those three years.

He's one shift against Matt Cooke away from being permanently out of the game.

You should post this on the sens board.

Naw, can't troll the Sens fans the day after.

Was suitable material for the Leafs vs. Sens thread since Dopps is still running his mouth.

How many injuries, how may last minute goals, overtime wins... The Sens caught every imaginable break this year.

Spatso thinks they can add Drouin LOL! For who? It would cost Chabot.

I'll admit it: I was a little sad to see them knocked out last night.

They were a team that was easy to cheer for.

Although their style of play could really suck the life out of a game.

Yeah, you are right. That is pretty damn possible.

I just think the Sens opportunity was this year.. bunch of mid 20's guys and some vets and everything broke their way.

The Canucks were a MUCH better team when they lost in the final and they never threatened again.

Thankfully Matt Cooke is busy kneeing Lucas at their beer league games and enjoying retirement to do so.

Yeah it was weird. I felt bad for them as a team because you know they left it all out there.

My happiness was knowing some obnoxious Aholes get to STFU now.

Their style of play was perfectly augmented by a refereeing philosophy of letting nearly everything go. The non-calls were the perfect equalizer. A plug like Methot can shut down Malkin and Crosby most of the time when he is allowed to ride on their back.

why the (frank) is the nhl not calling anything anymore. i get that the amount of pps in 05-06 was kind of crazy but does anyone think hockey now is better than it was then? i doubt it.

I loved the obstruction crackdown. I absolutely franking loved it.

I know there was a lot of whining about it, but I thought it was the best hockey the NHL had in 15-20 years.

Guys free to actually play with the puck.

But of course the NHL is the NHL, so it took about 2 years for the crackdown to completely erode away, and lo and behold, we are back to the garbage game of clutching and grabbing, while the league tries to figure out how to make the game more exciting and increase scoring.

Hockey: the only sport in the world where a referee sees an infraction, looks at the score, looks at the amount of time left, looks at if anyone is already in the penalty box, and then does mental calculations to figure out if he is going to call a penalty or not.

It's franking embarrassing.

If the Preds still had Johansen I would say they would be the favourite over the beat up Pens. But they don't, so it should be an interesting series.

Jarnkrok
Sissons

really doesn't match up well against

Crosby
Malkin

Playoff refereeing is a HUGE equalizer though.

Outside the centers, Nash still has some decent forwards.

And the Nashville defense >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Pittsburgh's defense.

It comes down to Rinne vs. Murray.

I think I'm cheering for Nashville.

I like the Penguins. I like Crosby, I like Kessel.

But Nashville has the ugliest uniforms in the league, I still love them for the mustard sweaters, it's apparently a fun place to watch a game, and seeing P.K. win a cup would cause great pain in Quebec.

So you can see there really is no decision to be made here...

I agree with you, and for my money, I want to see more offense. Call the (frank)ing penalties. In a sense the way defense breaks down to - what is the maximum a player can get away with, without taking a penalty? Which is subdivided into current NHL rules and the refs that are calling the game. (frank)en trap hockey is pure poop. From an entertainment perspective, you want to see a well played game, not some thug clutching/grabbing/ star players.

Honest to goodness, if I was in charge of refereeing, any time a stick made contact with a player above the knee, there would be a call.

Every franking time. No exceptions.

It would be an absolute poopshow for 2 years. A steady stream to the penalty box. Guys screaming that Wedgie had ruined the game - the referees were deciding every game, if I wanted to watch figure skating I'd watch figure skating, blah blah blah.

But I'd stick to my guns, and after 2 years, you wouldn't ever question why I did it.

Hockey would be enjoyable to watch.

Were you watching 2010 repeats? They have been balls to the walls fun to watch these playoffs outside of 3 or 4 games.
