Oh it's on, you just can't move guys with trade clauses nor do you want to void the franchise of any veteran presence. - LeftCoaster
Kessel and Phanuef say hello
I wonder if Edler would be ranked top 50 Dmen in the league ? |

He has bigger Sutter balls than Bo - VANTEL
If JB can get Van in around the 12-15 range with another pick or higher i'll be happy. Past that |

I hope it's his last year because he's bad at his job, not because he can't fix things fast enough....fair? - LeftCoaster
Fair enough to a point. Not everyone thinks he's been god-awful at his job like many on here. Benning may very well be gone in 2-3 years but it will remain to be seen where his legacy will be. There have been positives. |

I think he's made both good and bad moves, but more bad than good. He's been just blah...I don't want that for my team, I want someone who's good at their job. |

Unless someone comes along that is proven like Lou and Babcock. No point in moving on. |

If he was smart he'd expose Sutter and free up that cap space....in my humble opinion. Providing he's not able to trade him. |

Edler plays a more important part in sheltering the young defense so I'd still pick Sutter. |

Im not too concerned about sutter. I'm more concerned about the wussy swedes on this team who can't defend them selves. |

That is a point we will disagree on. We have been bad for so long that we think mediocre players are good. You could throw a dart at the free agent board and come up with someone that brings the same thing for 2.5 cheaper and would probably score more. |

it definitely did not happen like that. Burke made it very clear he was taking a Sedin before he maneuvered into the 1st overall spot. He then traded Atlanta the first pick and another on the condition that they didnt take a Sedin

I guess there's different versions of it.... THe story I read was that he told atlanta gm that he was interested in stephan.
But who really knows, this other version sounds good and very plausible too. |

I don't look at it the same as you, it's not about whether Edler is good or not, it's that he allows the team to slowly bring along a young defense because he can play 25 minutes a night in tough situations, you don't want young guys being exposed to that.
That's what Edmonton did to their young players and it hurt them.
Sutter doesn't really do that for anyone, he protected Horvat but he doesn't need that anymore....thus he's a waste, and a wussy!! |

Our projected (20 mil $) top line with the three Swedes combined for 41 goals . One more than Rookie Auston Matthews |

And yet he was the second man in after Miller to protect Stecher from Martin
You should not be comparing wussies with anyone on the team and Edler. He is the biggest by far.
Edler doesn't really shelter anyone anymore. We get lots of shots against us. We finish the bottom of the league and his point production stinks. Del Zotto could do more at 2 mil even though they play different sides.
There is nothing to lose |

Good contracts? I never said I want to get rid of good contracts, I'd want him to get rid of contracts like Sutter and Sbisa.
Edmonton needs a 3rd line center and Sutter is an Alberta wussy, send him home, take Mark Fayne back and get a 2nd or 3rd round pick for it...saves you a million bucks and it does the Oilers a favor. A win-win if you will.
Trade Sbisa for a 3rd round pick to or hope he gets taken by Vegas.
That's just an example of creative book keeping.
A concept which apparently flies over Donna's head??? - LeftCoaster
Sutter and tanev for rnh and their first. .... |
