The combine and player interviews will play a big part on who each team goes after for these spots. - thundachunk

It would be like Canucks offering a pick and prospect for them to pick up Daniels last year |

No it wouldn't, they have three goalies signed and don't want two of them, the Canucks want Daniel, thus he wouldn't be offered up.
They'll pay someone with cap space to take one of those guys off their hands, I guarantee it. Phoenix took on Pronger, Bolland and Datsyuk and got paid for it, the Canucks should do the same. |

We still want Daniel
They are a rebuild team they have plenty of cap space they will waive him. No need to give up picks or prospects |

Hey....I said "they", as in Trevor Linden.
I don't think they're rebuilding, they have several great young players and the best winger in the league. Re-tooling I'd say. If Nill would have fired their coach and got them goaltending last year they'd have made the playoffs. |

Exactly my point.
I cant figure why anyone wouldnt want to use the cap space to get additional picks/prospects..
I didnt realize we were a cup contender |

I was just looking at their roster for the expansion draft. They are in great shape , now and for years |

They're not rebuilding, they just have a bad manager and (had) a bad coach. |

Dallas does not need cap space
 - VANTEL
Sure they do, they're in a contend mode, they could use cap space to sign players or make trades. |

Why though would they give up assets when they can either buy outs or bury/waive the player.
I totally understand where you are trying to go, but Dallas nor Carolina for that matter are in position to be concerned about it. |

Depends....when you waive a player you only save 900K of his salary, when you trade him you can save his entire salary.
They had 50 wins and won the Central last year, this year they had poopty goaltending and Benn was playing injured, so was Spezza. Really depends on how they feel about their team.
They're certainly not in any cap trouble but they could sign Thornton and Marleau plus some RFA's and it's all gone. |
