And here it is

Jesus

Has a career high of 76.
Averaged over 60pts per 82 gp played over his career. True first line winger numbers. And before this season among the top 5 scoring right wingers over half a decade.

Coming off the worst season of his career and still scored 20 and 50 pts. Still just 26 years old too

Certainly lost some value with a mediocre playoffs and his price tag, but you've totally let your bias cloud your vision. Either that Or you're new to the NHL. Welcome bud

- HB77

Yup. He definitely has decent trade value. Same with RNH.

I think Chia will move them both in the near future(Eberle this summer possibly and RNH next year wouldn't surprise me either), will be interesting to see what they get for them.

I say that was a veiled response to Tryamkin being home sick.
Culture shock & the uncertain nature of Russian players commitment.
The examples r numerous.

- Nighthawk

I'd say its a response to the only thing canadian kids care about is winning the stanley cup. Euro's care mostly about their countries and world cups/ olympics yada yada.

I have been told by some guys I know that play in the NHL and it's pretty common knowledge that some of the euro players pack it in when playoffs come around. Everybody gets paid the same in the playoffs. Some don't like that.

A 6th rounder or a 4th and eat half his dollars is laughable

I obviously don't doubt he's lost some trade value, and the oilers need to clear some cap room so they'll prob accept abit of a lowball. But he could potentially return something very solid. His body of offence work is impressive

He's essentially edmontins kessel of a couple years back. Put up quality numbers on a sh1tty team forever and now he's a whipping boy. Too soft, no desire etc. So pitts got him for cheap. Homerun from their end.

As far as nuge, it's tough to pay your 3c -6 mil. but he's quality two way and can still put up 50. And with Leon moving to wing at times, he's got value.
But yeah- it's possible he goes at some point.

I'd guess he is yeah

I'm sure pc would love a decent defender in return. But even a quality prospect to get rid of the dollars would probably suffice since we got puljujarvi on the farm.

Some of those lesser than teams desperate for some more proven offence like the yotes or maybe the canes might be interested

So has eberle his entire career pretty much. To the tune of like 63 per 82 or something close to that.
That avg woulda Dipped abit after this year I guess.

But yeah- kessel is certainly better than eberle. Just drawing a comparison to the style of play/situation.

Well said.

When Leon is on Connors wing- nuges dollars probably aren't a concern at all.

Could be wrong, but my guess is that if ebs dollars can get moved, there'll be no rush to move nuge unless the trade is really ideal. At least until we know what our cap looks like with Connor and Leon's raises.
He provides such a valuable two way game and gives the oilers that leeway to move ld around.

The Cap has hurt playoff pay in bonuses. It's something the players should fight more for in next CBA. Pros in other sports get bonuses for playoff play and it's an extra motivator. Bettman's NHL should consider not being so stingy. Could make playoffs better for all.

Yeah I think your right there ...ebs will get moved ...someone will take him thinking they can get him back to a few years back ...you might have to take back a guy who's paid a bit much more than he's worth to make it work, I'm thinking closer to a bouma contract than a Brouwer type

I dunno what you consider "perfect" .

but yeah, in today's NHL, second line centers that avg 55 pts per 82 gp over five seasons, are defensively responsible and only 24 years old are actually among the top third of 2nd liners at least.

Edit- and as red mentioned, if you've got an offensively gifted 1c already in place, depending on your cap situation, nuge could very well be considered "perfect"

Where nuge was drafted needs to be forgotten. Just Because we know he's not the franchise number 1c the oilers hoped at the time doesn't then automatically translate to bust. Dude is a quality two way center.

YEah, if we're looking for just a quality prospect, highly doubtful we'll get to dump the entire 6. Maybe take back a couple.

If its for a quality proven player, (but abit cheaper) maybe we throw in an asset to offset the dollars we also saved

I don't care what Bennings intent was but the man should not be allowed to go near a mic. FA should put a gag order on him.

And finally, on the topic of puck-moving defensemen, Benning was asked about Brooks Bandits standout Cale Makar who’s draft stock continues to rise as he prepares to finish his season at the RBC Cup. Benning merely skimmed the surface when Makar’s name was floated in the interview and seemed to want to bring the discussion back to generalities in the draft rather than focussing on any one player in particular. However, he reinforced the notion that the Canucks are looking at just two positions with that fifth selection – either a centre or a defenseman.

“He’s a good player, and we’ve watched him closely all year. He’s a skilled guy. He can skate, and he can shoot the puck. There are a bunch of skilled defensemen in this year’s draft. If we can add either a playmaking centre iceman or a skilled defenseman, I think that’s what we’re going to be able to do at this year’s draft.”

Botch: “Some around the team believe they have Swedish defenceman Timothy Liljegren higher than most teams on their board, and some even think the Canucks have him in their top five. This theory is reinforced by some comments Benning made earlier in the season, when we he said Liljegren can be a cornerstone defenceman. He said he was a “dynamic” skater with a good shot who the Canucks could view as answer to their power-play problems.”
