Not as comparable as you think. Larsson was 4 years younger when traded than Tanev is now, he didn't/doesn't have a history of injuries like Tanev does and I don't think there's a team as desperate as Edmonton was for a RHD in the league right now (maybe ever).

Teams like Detroit, Tampa and Philadelphia are probably your best bets.

I did mention a few posts later that I don't expect a payout like Hall for Tanev, but his possession stats show that he is better as a shutdown Dman than Larsson or just about anyone else for that matter. That should cover at least in part the age gap. Like I say though, I don't expect the world for Tanev, but I do expect something worth getting excited about in return, such as an elite prospect or a mid 1st round pick+

Benning taking a lot of heat right now for his interview with TSN over in Paris:

Benning #TSN1410: I tell our guys we want European skill with North American heart. We want skilled players, defensemen that can move puck

Tanev and Virtanen for Drouin or Tanev and say Subban for Drouin and Callahan
Tanev for Kasperi Kapenen and a 1st
Tanev and Virtanen for Nylander. To me this makrs a bucket of sense for both sides.

Really, sorry if that was offensive, it was an observation of all the leaf fans declaring what they think someone is worth.

I am really starting to get a feeling that Makar has passed Liljegren on his D rankings and he will be selected at 5. I like it, high risk pick. Benning will be praised or fired

Makar and Heiskanen have both passed Liljegren on most credible lists/rankings. At this point, Liljegren would be the reach if they choose D at 5.

I'd be happy with any of Makar/Heiskanen/Mittelstadt/Necas

Beats the proposals by simpleton Toronto fans I saw earlier in the week which were

Tanev
5th overall pick
Juolevi
32 overall pick

For

Drouin
Callahan

Glass
Vilardi
Heiskanen
Mittlestadt

If we get one of these players at 5, I will be happy, but prefer Glass/Heiskanen

Depending on the prospect and the plus on the 1st, I think I can agree with that. Certainly not a Nylander as keeps being brought up, though.

I tend to agree...although I don't rate Necas as high as you. I'd be pleased with any of Makar, Heiskanen, Glass, Mittle, .......even Vilardi I suppose. lot's of good options

Yup. After seeing them play together at the worlds last year I'd have no issue giving up a first to play Tanev with Rielly. His injury history is a bit worrying, but he's one of the top pure shut-down D in the league.

Vilardi I'd be happy with 5, but I'd be mildly surprised if he doesn't go at 3 or 4. Glass I like as well. I haven't watched much of these guys lately so come up with a definite list yet so like most people, it's just a cluster of 3-5 prospects for me.

Looking forward to our team in 2019

Dahlen Goldobin Boeser Baertschi Granlund Erickson Cassels Horvat Sutter up front
Stecher Subban Makar Tanev Biega Juolevi

What a joke.
Expecting a lot of 15-2 losses coming if they continue down this road of soft skilled players.

Nope.

Absolutely unwilling to trade Nylander unless it's for a young stud D. Not many rookies get over 60 points, and he (and Matthews) would surely have even more if Hyman could hit the broadside of a barndoor with a shot...

The Leafs won't trade Nylander and I can't blame them. I am sure he is a huge hit in the showers
