If the Canucks are serious about trying to trade Tanev, Jim Benning should definitely give Lou Lamoriello a call and see if there's a deal to be made.
No thanks. But nice article.

I didn't realize beggars could be choosers???
If you got any other bright ideas of RHD that the Laffs have available, we're all ears...
hint: Corrado doesn't count

Any Leafs fans mind explaining Nylander's full value and why they would never trade him for Tanev?

is this a Leafs blog or a Canucks blog?
Anatomy of a Rebuild= getting lucky and landing McDavid/Matthews.
I rarely criticize blogs, but I didn't agree with any of this. |

Tanev is not worth anywhere near what you people think he's worth.
Teams DO NOT go out and pay ridiculous sums for defensive-minded players from the worst defensive teams. Like ever.
We are in for years of pain upcoming. We are about to pay the bill for 5 whole years of boneheaded decisions by ownership and management. And, it's going to be devastating.
If you thought we were bad the last couple years, just wait!... |

I didn't realize that Tanev was the only possible D option out there to explore???
Furthermore, Tanev's career numbers are M-E-H. He's a decent defender who blocks a few shots, nothing more. Pretty sure the Leafs could find a better way to spend $4.5M over the next three years, especially given what Benning would be asking for in return.
Remind me what Tanev's injury history looks like? |

Benning should be creating a bidding war for Tanev. |

I don't know or care I'd rather not help TO get better. I also don't think we can get Taylor Hall for Tanev, I'm just saying if the bar is set there, we can probably do better than you guys think |

Ooh stringer....
Is Adam Larson an offensive defence, a career high 24 points with 3 goals that season suggests not. Yet he garnered Hall.
Tanev has less upside, yes. But right now is a better defensive player. Career high 14 points with 2 goals.
Great analytic numbers for tanev. He drives possession.
He won't ever get a hall caliber return but don't underestimate his value.
I wouldn't trade him for nylander myself. Don't need anymore pussies on the team.
But don't kid yourself, his worth is substantial.
Marner? Dare to dream my friends, date to dream. |

Adam Larson 24yo
13G 75A 88pts in 353 games
Chris Tanev 27yo
16G 59A 75Pts in 348 games
Looks pretty comparable to me....
