If you can deal tanev and edler for picks that deal makes some sense. Gives you those 2 with stetcher, hutton, gud and hopefully tryamkin eventually, not a bad top 6 and all under 25, you could then easily burn 5th pick on a center... would be a good way to speed up with years in the toilet.
Interesting thought. Id prefer deal everyone and do a toronto rebuild though. Was just looking at buffalo and they rushed theres and are totally (frank)ed, they are legit going to have to rebuild from the rebuild. - mauryballstein
Toronto dealt Dion, Phil, Franson. Most of the trades came from minor trades that turned out in their favour. Older players signed for cheap and traded. |

@Hefty.
Your comments on the last blog that Canucks failure to draft a center since Linden is a little bizarre . They had Hank as a number one center for 16 years. They also had Kesler for nine years and the West Coast express . There was no urgency to draft a center .
Gillis gave away draft picks like tic tacs . He never planned for the future. Fifteen years ago teams did not look at drafting top centers or top D the way they do today.
Most D back then were drafted second round and later.
Modern times calls for drafting top D and top centers as the priority and I see Canucks concentrating on that for the next couple of years. - VANTEL

Lol.... yeah i read that and chose to ignore.
Hefty doesn't like European players who win art ross trophies, Americans who win selkie trophies or local Canadian boys who center very dynamic top lines........
I think he needs to see an Australian win the Norris centering our top line before he can bring himself to give any credit.

I think he was hinting that on an individual basis, owners might seek legal action to terminate some contracts. The players play in the league, but the league doesnt control the contracts, those are between players and owners - WhiteLie
It would have to be done as an all or nothing ordeal. Do you think an owner will risk letting McDavid, or Crosby, or Ovi, etc go to UFA and renegotiate their contracts? That would become cap hell for teams. |

Yeah thats why I said on an individual basis. Ovechkin wont get his contract terminated, nor Crosby, but someone like Callahan on TBay or Brown in LA go, those teams might want to consider using it as an excuse to get out from a bad one. Mike Richards is an example of it, many players have been arrested and LA leveraged it to terminate his awful contract
It wouldnt have to be an all or nothing ordeal since the contracts are only between the team and the player signing it. NHLPA can grieve, but there is definitely text in there about activities they cannot participate in |

It's possible....they definitely had some luck this year. If they don't shore up their defense I can see them regressing. |

Ladies and Germs your HB consensus 2017-2018 Canuck roster
Sedins SKille - go away and retire line
LE, Sutter DD - the albatross line
Sven, Bo, Granlund - not good enough, middle six, when can we trade line
Guance, Chaput, Megna - you're good for this crap team line
Cram, Boucher, Rodin - dead wood depth
Labate, Pedan - Nucks are sh!tty so let's fight depth
BB, Goldy, Dahlen, JV, - boo to rookies suspect NHL talent belongs in the AHL
Edler, Tanev - why are you not traded already pair
Sbisa, Guddy - can we expose or dump pair
Hutton, Stecher - why aren't you in the AHL pair
Biega- you're better then Weber keep the good times going
Subban, Molino, MacEwen, Shore, Chatfield, Brisbois - fun staying in Utica
2017 draft picks and OJ- yeah CHL is where JB busts belong. |

They can't afford Tanev. Why would Benning do them favors ? Tanev will be traded elsewhere if he is moved. I think TB Ana Dal Wpg Edm NYI Fla SJ DET are places he could end up but I don't see TO as a suitor |

Not everyone goes through a sophomore jinx. They will need to add to be better but I don't see them taking much of a step back. |

Uhmmm..... Makita?......
Sigh.... you're not very good at this are you.
You're trying way to (frank)ing hard.
This is nonsensical garbage disguised as hockey talk. This post is to hockey what tiger balm is to preparation H. They are both kinda similar... but no, not at all.
You were doing so well, then.... I don't know, day drunk..... found the washer fluid again, I can't tell.... just not a very good post.
Step your game up, I've got money riding on you, you're making me regret it, son. |

Why would JB do anyone a favour by giving them a top 4 defender? What the (frank) is winnipeg going to do with Tanev? |

If Callahan and Brown don't go to the Olympics and keep themselves available to play in the NHL they are safe. Only the players that actually go to the Olympics would be in any danger. And no team will terminate a contract and then pay more for that player. |
