WOW no. 100% would never consider that - CanuckDon
Just throwing it out there Both look like locks to be top 4 NHL dmen for a long time so I didn't think it was that crazy to throw it out there. I assume everyone would be happy if OJ developed into their caliber of dman. |

Jeff Paterson: With Mike Babcock saying he wants/needs a right-handed defenseman who can play 25 minutes …. Chris Tanev?
What's he worth to Toronto? |

Kris Russell, the Oilers got for cheap. He is also 29.
Dekeyser got 5 AAV for 6 years
Demers 4.5 for 5 years
Guds 3.35 for 4 years.
I would put Tanev above all of those Dmen. Tanev contract is a very good contract. I would rather keep Tanev until Van has an actual replacement for him. If Tree was still here
Would make no sense to trade Tanev for a player only to trade a player for a D later on. Not going forward in that sense of the matter. - manvanfan
Tanev definitely is better, which is why he could bring back a higher return. Another season of injuries and his durability will be heavily questioned and hurt his value.
Either go UFA route on short term deals with the likes of Russell, Daley, Wideman to play on your second pairing until your prospects are ready, or target a team for trade looking at a cap dump, like Orpik/Girardi type +picks/prospects |

He'd be exactly what they need, would look great paired with Rielly. |

Saw the Brit Floyd concert there a couple of years ago. Great venue for concerts. We were sitting halfway up the stands at stage left. All the seats are pretty good, since there aren't really any nosebleed seats. Concert stage takes up a quarter of the floor anyway so almost anything seems close. Sound was very good. |

Lol I don't really know either. I know they are 2nd, 3rd, 4th round picks who I liked in previous drafts that are doing well, stats wise. |

while many dont like edmonton winning its nice to have 2 canadian teams in final 6 teams left. If oilers win then 2 of final 4. Canadas best chance of a cup in the longest time, a few decades.
even if oilers win I dont see them beating nashville anyways.
Nashville / pens would make for a great series! |

According to Scott Cullen, Tanev is worth Connor Carrick and Brenden Leipsic.
Based on that kind of logic maybe we could trade Michael Chaput and Jayson Megna to the Leafs for Morgan Reilly. Apparently he'd look good playing in his hometown next to Tanev. |

I think Oilers would be Nashville's toughest test, I still dont have big faith in Rinne and think that the Oil have better shooters/offense in their depth. (EDIT: maybe not better depth, but I think their style would cause more issues than ANA's depth)
That being said, I hope Nashville wins the west, and the Oil lose tonight. I'll root for Ottawa in the east if they are facing PIT |

McDavid is the face the NHL will be selling hard for the next few years, and I'm sure the NHL front office would consider a final with him against Crosby a marketing dream.
However Gary and his merry band of charlatans must be completely terrified right now by the prospect of an Ottawa vs. Edmonton final.
It'll be interesting to see how the calls go for Anaheim and Pittsburgh. |

Could the NHLPA negotiate their own deal with the Olympics?
They could create their own line of merchandise of jerseys to keychains to pay the lost salaries of the players.
Owners and the NHL would be shut out of the process. Any owner who threatens to discipline players who went.... strike. If the top 80 (ish) money makers in the game stick together to protect any individual who may be getting poop from the NHL/Owner... the NHL/Owner will be the ultimate losers.
