Totally agree, I never thought he was over rated like some on here.
- nyisles7

I felt he was too but to be honest and address chiefs, ovie has been blah so far he's one dimensional anymore. He's still a great shooter but he doesn't go end to end anymore or create for other guys. Oshie shoots hits and can dish the puck. I'm not saying he's elite but I would take him for sure. Also shows more heart than okposo ever did.

Serious question who would you rather sign Kovi or Oshie?
- nyisles7

Oshie wouldn't cost any assets, just money. Kovi would cost both.

It has to be asked, would people here on this board want the Isles to trade for and sign Kovi? He's like 36 now. Still productive, albeit in the KHL.

34 and he just put up 78pts in 60gp in a lower scoring league.

He would be a massive addition to an inept PP. I'd roll the dice, but the contract would have to make sense.

Doesn't matter though, I'll bet anyone dollars to donuts that he's going to be a Ranger.

Trade for Duchene already you Dinks
- DDM-Coga

That ship sailed. If Sakic makes him available to the entire league in the offseason, the Isles will undoubtedly get out-bid by another team.

Oshie without even thinking about it.

I would not bet against you on this one 7. Garth had an entire year to get Duchene and could not do it. Why will this summer be any different?

You do realize that your thing here is hating the a 30 year old UFA that we overpaid for in both dollars and term last offseason and you are saying that you want to sign a 30 year old UFA that we will overpay for in both dollars and term for during this offseason...right?

Yes sir, although I never wanted Ladd, that 1 dimensional 30 year old we signed last year that showed a decline in his numbers the last couple years who also "played" a game that typically takes its toll earlier on a player.
Conversely , Oshie is an all around talent and think his skill set with JT would be very complementing to both players, or just placing him on another line he would make others around him better imho. I think he he would help our PP in his ability to create space and make the quick pass. He also possesses a nice shot, not to mention he would help us in the God forsaken skills competition.

Fair enough, although I don't think Ladd is one dimensional. He had a mostly bad year, but I think he still has plenty left in the tank.

I'd be OK with Oshie, but I'm not thrilled at the idea of giving him a long-term deal. I also don't think he's worth much more than $5M - $5.5M per year. At 5 years, $25M I'd be OK. That said, I'd still prefer landing a center to play behind Tavares.

If you look at Cal, Casey's and Ladd's deals, Oshie would be a bargain at 5.25 per for 5 years with what he brings

What other than shoot, did Ladd ever bring skill wise in his career? He was always slow, didn't transport or handle the puck very well imho.
He was typically the trigger man and he was a bit of a banger in his younger days.

My opinion is he's shot, I hope I'm wrong and has a better year this year but wow is his contract terrible!

Edit: I agree a 2 way center is needed, if I'm not wrong TJ was drafted as a center.

Johnson, as far as I know, has primarily remained at center. He was signed as an undrafted free agent, but I believe most of his career has been at that position.

Tyler Johnson yes, but I was referring to Oshie, sorry confusing. I think he played center in College and in his pre draft years.

He looks pretty good on that big sheet of ice.

Looks like he's got some pretty slick hands and good mobility. Smooth skater and good vision.
