I could see Bowman trying to acquire another first round pick for this draft. He has a penchant for the theatrics, and considering the team's two lackluster performances these past two seasons, and the draft being held in Chicago this year, I could see him being told by our president (who loves it when the 'Hawks are the talk of the town, considering his marketing background) to make some sort of headlines.
Only thing is, I don't think Bowman would more Panarin for, say, MDC, a 1st, and a fringe player. The 'Hawks won't want to rebuild (even though their farm system is pretty depleted). I think they're going to keep going for it until the ship inevitably sinks. - TommyHawk
CDH & MDC & 1st is a lot to give up, I threw in fringe player to help your bottom 6 w/speed while isles may grab a prospect back and pick to even out deal.

Ah I interpreted it as either/or, not both. I think it's a pretty good starting point. Not sure how it would play out. I'm assuming Barzal is untouchable? |

Almost as similar as to when Pokka was packaged in a trade for Leddy 3 years ago. It could happen. |

Trading panarin makes little sense for the Blackhawks. |

Chicago would never do this... ever. Not even if you tried to overwrite the computer on the xbox. In no world is MDC getting you panarin |

He would lookgood with j.t.,but theirs going to be a few players probably available? Hopefully garth can scoop one ! Cause with the right line mates j.t.could/should be in the top 5 scoring and adding another scoring winger and barring major injuries this will be a playoff team imho |

Unfortunately after eleven years of rebuilding with the same GM "playoff team" doesnt cut it. |

Hey we all thought the moon for Hall and that didnt happen, not saying every Gm is the same but anything is possible in a trade scenario......
Just bc u may not like MDC as much, depends on what others may think....
But NOT saying this could be, just throwing things out bc at the end its 3 1st's technically ..... |

I get it. If a team is desperate the price can drop. I just don't see a package including MDC bringing back a first line winger |

What you dont think teams will say but he was the 5 pick? I mean Alexander Daigle and Sindey Crosby were both #1 overall so therefore they should have the same value |

Draft position means nothing. - Dan Petriw
I know thats my point, guys develop differently. Barzal is going to be very good I mean he was second in WHL player of the year votes and was ahead of guys in points that he played 20 less game than. No way the isles should move him unless its for a very good top line player in a package. Kucherov, Drouin are 2 Id move him for
Edit: heres the whl thing for those interested, I was off in the points part above
On Wednesday, Barzal was named runner-up for WHL Player of the Year behind Sam Steel (Regina). This season, the Coquitlam, BC native posted 79 points (10G, 69A) in 41 regular season games, nearly a two-point per game. Barzal recorded a career-high 69 assists, good for fourth in the WHL, despite playing at least 20 fewer games than those ahead of him. |

There are some on this, and other boards that would disagree, Dan. Especially when it comes to prospects. Personally, I've always thought play is how someone should be valued. However, since it's not a perfect vacuum, there are other factors that come in. Such as a teams player development, the system in which they're playing, coaching and surrounding talent. Would Gretzky be Gretzky if he was, say playing with the talent of today's Coyotes or Avs? |

Being the fifth overall pick three years ago.. means little if anything right now |

I agree totally. There are many a high-pick bust (not saying MDC is a bust). Anyone remember Scott Scissons? |
