I really think the Flyers end up with Patrick. I just have this feeling that the Devils will prefer the seemingly more dynamic offense that is talked about with Hischier.
- J35Bacher

I truly hope thats the case. Not that I dont like Hischier, but I reallllly like the idea of adding a big dynamic two way center to go with Couts and Rubtsov down the middle. I salivate thinking about that trio down the middle...

We have Voroyobov? Coming along too. I think there is a good chance Rubstov plays wing. He has been playing wing in Jr's, when he was healthy.

G is still in the mix. That's a lot of centers, have Vveccs too

Having too many quality centers is a problem I'd love to have!

I'm good with that too. Some may have to shift to wing. Love big guys down the middle. Have to skate too.

Adding Veccs has already put Pebs on the wing, if #2 sticks Val moves over too.
Still 4 centers and 2 good Russians in the wings.
We added Veccs and the #2 for the #13 pick. Damn that Hexy is smart

Lol, I was actually referring to the offsides discussion, but both are equally pointless

trading Giroux right now for a pick is a big step backward in my opinion. and trade him straight up for just the pick?

If we get the future 1c in the draft, G gets easier minutes and can shift to wing as needed can play pp and take tough draws in t d zone.

If the Devils take Hischier, I think Patrick would eventually succeed Giroux as Flyers' captain. He brings a lot to the table apart from points.

Also, I think Patrick's offensive upside is getting a bit underrated. He's averaged 1.5 points per game if you combine his 17 y/o and 18 y/o seasons in the Western League. That stacks up favorably with most NHL impact offensive players during their junior careers. Even at age 16, he was a 30-goal, point-per-game player.

Add in his prowess without the puck. Then add his leadership potential. Prospects like this don't come around too often. If not for the injury concerns, I think Patrick would be the slam-dunk, no brainer first overall pick.

Hischier is be the flashier talent with greater pure speed. His WJC performance was an eye-opener, too. But also keep in mind that the Q is still the least structured of the three CHL leagues, that he will have a steeper learning curve in the junior to pro game transition (not all that different from what Konecny has experienced to date). That said, his training in the Swiss game, where there is big emphasis on the technical game and sound team defense has played into why he is NOT considered a defensive liability even if he doesn't project as a shutdown type.

I prefer Patrick too.

Also if you do get Patrick I think it will open up a chance to move Giroux if needed in the future.

I've had discussions for years about how nice it'd be to get one of mcdavid matthews nolan by winning the lottery as a fluke. My position stands. Although I'd be happy with hischier and with our prospect time line it's not like he's too little too late. I'd be ecstatic with both. Did hasktol smile when he got the news ?

Yes, G could be moved. I think he has more value as a 2c,3c or even on wing as a valued asset. I don't think he brings much in trade back, so it would just be a salary DUMP. That's ok if we need cap room.

He was 52nd in the league in scoring right behind toews. He's still one of the elite pp playmaker and if we had legitimate scoring threats beyond our top line he would manage better play. Yes he's not the same player he was. He still has so much uses thst could help a team. I reference the Kessel trade any time someone talks about g. And he's a center who is elite in the circle. His value is still pretty good it's not a dump. But I don't see any reason to move on from him. He plays pp pk and again has the face offs. If anything I'm looking to move on from Jake whose contract year appears to be more an outlier than a prediction of future success. Giroux as our prospects come up can hopefully take on more specialized role for us.

Bill, the chatter on the Devils blog is that they are leaning towards Nico.
Have YOU heard anything?
Is this all pre draft BS?
Who would YOU prefer the Flyers take? All things falling right.

Well said, my point but better put. G has so much long term value as the roster improves and he becomes the SECONDARY scoring. PP play, PK and key draws. If he had help he gets better. Look at Coots down the stretch after Val arrived.

Article on BSH that backs up pretty much everything I have said (on both of my accounts) about Ghost this season

summed up pretty well by this small snippet:
Shayne Gostisbehere, on the other hand, posted a 96.51 PDO this season. Not only was that the worst on the Flyers, it ranks 1107th among 1,133 total defenseman seasons (with more than 500 minutes at 5v5) since 2010-11. 97.6% of all the seasons by qualifying defensemen came with higher PDOs than the one Gostisbehere posted in 2016-17.

We're not allowed to blame luck. We must trade him now. Easily replaceable.
