yep...pretty tough 100 years vs 20 years. - Garnie
25 years.
Over that span, the leafs well...were pretty much crap.
Plenty of opportunity to grow a new fan base.
I think they missed the boat.
also over the leafs 100 years...pretty much 70 have been crap.
Im surprised more leaf fans havent jumped ship.
Fortunately, the three amigos will only grow the leafs fan base. Heck my 8 and 6 year both want Matthews jerseys. |

Connor McDavid might be the current superman of hockey, but Auston Matthews is the batman. |

I know lots of Leafs fans/Hab fans/Bruins fans and I'm from the area, not many jump ship regardless of how poop their teams are.

Just because you have McDavid doesn't mean you should undersell your top shelf assets. It's simply bad business.
Chiarelli has a history of making some fairly silly trades -- Seguin being the highest profile prior to the Hall trade. Seriously, if you haven't already done it, check out the Chiarelli/Boston brass video where they contemplate and then ultimately deal Seguin. It's shocking stuff.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JRyIgatcTAs
Again, the team is looking great but I think people are over-estimating Larsson's contributions. The guy plays just over 20mins a night -- less mins than Klefbom, Sekera, and Russell.
I honestly believe they could have picked up a better d-man or, at the very least, some extra parts or draft picks in the deal. *shrug* - mjones242
Larsson/Russell played the most 5v5 mins/game avg but Larsson played against the toughest lines and he was on the ice while the biscuit went in the other teams net more then in his own net. That's a win by me

If Toronto sports fans had any competition for their dollar, like if the Argos were as good as the Redblacks, then it would be a whole different story.

I'd never jump ship and until 2007 it was pretty brutal around these parts - RickJames77
I always find it odd that people rag on fans for being loyal to a team even when they're terrible. The sports world would a poopty place if all fanbases were like that of Chicago and Pittsburgh. |

Who rags on a loyal fan?
Although today's world, Im surprise any of younger people have any loyalties.
It seems to be people go with whatever is popular. |

I've never been in Las Vegas, but do you guys think that 1pm or 3pm games would work in that city? (Sat & Sun). --> referring to whether this would fit into the LV visitors schedule..
I'm hoping that LV will play some of their homegames around that time; would be nice to get some earlier games.. I don't like any of the teams in the West (Stl and Nsh ok organisations) so might be nice to have a team to cheer for in West.
And might potentially be cheapest to go to to see some games for people in Europe - some cheap flights from Europe to LV and tickets won't be expensive either.
A pity that Leafs will only play LV once a year..

It’s definitely within unofficial rules that you can give an extra shot to a guy on the way down.
Niskanken gave him the business on the way down. I agree, premeditated or not, he probably could have let up, just like Bortuzzo could have let up before breaking fiala’s leg.
Seems kind of dumb to allow players, especially the league’s top player, to get injured on plays like that. - Tumbleweed
Agree with you, whether you believe it was intentional or not (which is impossible to prove either way) the league can and should do something about it. Quintal is gutless. My guess is, no retaliation tonight, but next season, Sestito or some similar sasquatch dresses for every Pens game against the Caps. |

do they?
I wasn't sure whether all teams have home and away games vs all teams?
it would leave 52 games vs Conference teams.. (for Eastern teams)
7 X 4 = 28 games vs division teams.
24 games vs other conference teams; 8.. so not sure how they'll do that?
some teams play 2 home games vs team A, and only one away game?
(ie Toronto plays 3 games vs all Metro teams; in total 12 home and 12 away, but for example could play NYI once at home, and twice away?).
I thought intra-division games were always 6? (42 total) must be wrong I guess.. |

So now I'm not sure. I'd imagine they'd want to continue having each team have a home and away game against every other team, but not certain |

So according to the below, Z was our best dman. GAR is not perfect, but I think one of the better stats out there.
https://www.reddit.com/r/...ls_above_replacement_gar/
Outside of the top 3, the d was a mess. Really not a surprise there.
Player GAR
Nikita Zaitsev 6.7
Jake Gardiner 5.8
Morgan Rielly 5.5
Martin Marincin 1.3
Matt Hunwick 1.2
Connor Carrick 0.7
Alexei Marchenko 0.0
Roman Polak -1.1

Shattenkirk will get $7 mil from one of NYR,Bos,Mtl or Tor for 6 or 7 years. His preference is probably NYR if they want him, Trouba probably has more upside and might be signed for less money say $6.5, it will be a matter of what assets have to be given up to save a bit of cap space for a better d-man.
