if tampa puts drouin on the table, they’ll be tough competition when we are bidding for dmen. - Tumbleweed
oh ya.
The only players we have that we could offer that would be better are Marner and Nylander.....doubt they are on the table.
Maybe JVR...but he's older, more expensive and only one year left. |

The Wild are fuuuuuuudged - AdamFrench
They don’t have a 1st or 2nd this year.
A guy like Kapanen who doesn’t need protection and our 1st could be pretty enticing to them.
Brodin and dumba are the guys I’m looking at.

They'll likely trade a defenseman at some point. I don't see them leaving Neiderreiter unprotected...at least not over say a Zucker or Haula. - Phenom
If they want to protect Dumba, Scandella and Spurgeon then they can only protect one forward because Parise, Pomminville and Koivu all have to be protected with their NMC's, so have to use that one on Granlund.
So as you say, they have to deal a defender. |

Hmmm damn them if they do. - Fakepartofme
It's interesting. They could probably swing that trade but if I remember correctly, their woes this season were goaltending and team D. I wonder if they use Trouba to get a goalie. Have they heard of our up and coming star Garrett Sparks??? If they throw in a 7th they can have him for the low price of a Trouba. |

Not enough.
I think we need to include Horton for the jets to take it. |

Yup. Dumba or Spurgeon would look alright on the right side next to Rielly.
Dumba the better option obviously but Spurgeon would come at a cheaper return. |

yeah, if you time it right. kessel and bernier were both moved after their july 1 bonuses were paid.
But the real issue with signing bonuses is escrow.
Salary is subject to escrow. So guys are getting ~15% less than there actual contracts.
Bonuses are 100% guaranteed, so no escrow. It’s a way for wealthier teams to pay their players more. - Tumbleweed
right.I actually think it makes it more challenging to trade a player with a big SB in the contract.
if you look at NZ, he has 3mil bonus on the last few years.. Teams will not want to take that guaranteed risk |

Honestly, I just cant buy the location as an excuse.
Ive driven from downtown Ottawa to Kanata...its like 25mins.
Which is a short trek anywhere in Toronto. - Fakepartofme
It's a terrible excuse. You can actually take google maps, and move your departure time into rush hour. Google knows traffic flows. It estimates between 26 to 40 minutes, at the height of rush hour. And given ottawa is so small, rush hour clears up pretty quickly. Google estimates 18 to 26 minutes with a 6pm departure.
And in my experience, google maps is incredibly accurate. It's like voodoo accurate.
Take another 5 or 10 minutes to deal with the crowds once you get there (being generous), and you're good. Of note, that 5 or 10 minutes to deal with the crowds is no different than here either though.
Apparently there is also a 62 train, for public transit. Transit times don't vary by rush hour too much for that. 50 minutes.
None of this is much of an obstacle. This would be considered easy travels for anyone from Toronto. From the suburbs, that's half the time some would travel to a Leaf game.
I think the only way you justify it, is the difference in perception of a Torontonian, and an ottawanker. To us, an hour commute is no big deal. To them, that's unthinkable. We're probably far more likely to do it, simply because we are accustomed to it.
*disclaimer - for the purposes of this post, I have used Lebreton Flats as the departure point. |

Dopps also goes on to explain that Otatwa has a population of 1,2 so they can't be fairly compared to Toronto at 6 million
Of course Nashville is about 700K
but they don't have the Redblacks to compete with. |

i don't know why they didn't front load the contract a little.
they would have made the last years easier to move. |

Yes very popular I hear......at a completely different part of the year.
still no excuse. No one is comparing them to TO though...outside of the travel comparison I made.
I doubt in Winnipeg, youd see empty seats for a playoffs game.
Again, Im arguing Dopps/sens fans point not you. |

I hate to bring this up again but there are still a million opinion pieces on the Crosby headshot. They've reported commentary from coaches/gms/pundits/etc and it seems like ALL of them keep saying "there's no way it was premeditated because it was too fast so its not dirty!"...
I don't get that. Of course Niskanen didn't identify Crosby in that time frame and unleash his "plan" but why the hell is that the only bearing for determining if it was dirty to these guys???
(Not rehashing the debate. Just think it's weird that that is the uniform sentiment going around) |
|

|
Top 6 reasons the Sens can't sell out a playoff game.
-Location
-Parking lot
-Public Service pay system problems
-Redblacks competition for entertainment dollars
-Higher costs for second round
-people anticipating new Arena in 4 or 5 years - Aetherial
And most are part-time fans given how many of them are still closet Leafs and Habs fans. |

I kinda agree with them though.
It's a terrible results but it's way more of an accident than anything else.
Things happen way too fast on the ice, with players being told to hit hard all the time and you're on "edge" because it's Crosby and if you hesitate for a second he'll probably score.
I'm glad they didn't suspend him, no matter how unfortunate the whole thing turned out. |

Trading Dion was possible, he's a good player, just overpaid and shouldn't be counted on as a top pairing defenseman.
Trading Clarkson was un (frank)ing believable. |

Doesn't matter where the rink is...there just isn't that many DIE HARD fans due to them being an expansion team and still having LOTS of Leaf/Hab/Bruin etc etc fans in the area.

It actually may of been not such a good trade.
His contract is insured, and hes finished.
Not that MLSE gives a poop about 5 shmil. |

I agree with them also. There was no way it was planned or targetted because it was Crosby. But almost none of them talk past that point which I find odd.
