Buchnevich is a LW, I would replace Matt Martin.. for one. Also, he would be an upgrade on Hyman
Kadri is a C. We need more C's.

- PatC80

LW is a bonus position, we will probably have to replace JVR sometime soon, and that will not be easy. There is a giant LW prospect available in this year's draft, that might be decent - Popugayev - announcers might have fun with that one. If the Leafs continue to draft size as they showed last year, it might be this guy or Hague. Two guys with size and skill. I think with Matthews/Kadri/Bozak/Boyle/Gauthier Leafs are ok with centre depth. I see Boyle re-signing with Leafs this year. Matt Martin, as weak as he is on talent is hard to replace. Not much in the way of hitters and players that will protect the star player. Edmonton has at least 5 tough guys now - with reason. Hard to see Leafs having less than two or three next year.

He wasn't the leading scoring when drafted...also he was -72...which had nothing to do with his play, but for some reason scouts actually care about +/- (see Dmitri Sokolov) even if they play on the worst iced rosters in junior when their +/- is terrible.
- AdamFrench

oh so they just saw a small skill little MAFK and said "you guys silly, we still gonna draft it"

and it worked out. Nice.

KHL journeyman?

His KHL numbers per age rank around Kuznetsov, Tarasenko and Panarin.

- AdamFrench

Not so sure about that, he was 2nd, 3rd and 4th in scoring on his last three full KHL seasons on the teams he played on. Kuznetsov was the top scorer on his KHL team 3 times.

Right now, our LW is JvR, Komarov, Hyman and Martin..

Kinda weak offensively after JvR

Agree, JVR will be hard to replace. Still hate the fact that he plays so soft for such a big guy. Fly weight Connor Brown had more hits in the playoffs than JVR.

Moving out a 2.5m quality D man just to sign a more expensive 4 guy is not smart asset management.

Smart asset management was having 5 top D, and moving one for a quality forward...which they did.
No rush to move out anyone...their time for a cup is now and the next couple of years.

- Fakepartofme

I disagree.

Why lose a forward when you don't have to?

They have a weakness they need to address...and to do that you have to deal your position of strength....Ellis may never play at this level again. Trade him on a high and get what you need to improve your weakness.

Hard to move a good d-man that has 2 years at 2.5M a year out and get fair value. Unless Preds get back some top draft picks including a lottery pick - I would think it would be unlikely. Tyson Barrie who finished the season -34 for Colorado is probably not as good as Ellis and will make 5.5M for three more years by comparison.

?

Nash is not waiving for vegas. Nobody wants to play for a loser.

Rags can ltir lupul and create cap space for shattenkirk.

Maybe the leafs add a 2nd, but the rags aren't getting much in a trade for a 40 point 7.8m winger.

- Tumbleweed

Agreed

There is no way he waives. Anybody who is older does not want to play in Vegas. They don't want to raise a family there.

the NYR won't be able to afford Shatts. With Zibanajed, Lindholm, and Fast all needing to be resigned and all deserve raises it's not happening. They would have to move out salary some how which really wouldn't be worth it

Yep. Makes him even more valuable...all more reason to trade him.

We should trade our roster for the canucks roster.

Be nice to be a contender for once.
