I will never root for the Rangers to win, but I was glad to see Brendan Smith punch Andrew Shaw in the face a bunch of times last night. Shaw could have seriously injured Smith.

I, personally, like PLind's posts -- are they negative a lot? Sure. It's his shtick, and for some people, the glass is half empty. But he isn't right or wrong more or less than the rest of us

I mean, seriously. Look past the avatar, and you see a guy who doesn't want 4th-liners to be overpaid, prefers skilled depth to "grit," expects performance on the PK, and thinks that management and coaches should not get a pass when they double down on bad calls.

I mean, come on. Yeah, the posts can run negative. But it's just as bad to say that every move the organization makes is worthy of praise.

They are human. Sometimes things work well. Sometimes you buy out Ilya Bryzgalov after two seasons

But when it comes to the Flyers, obviously, they are not the worst organization in the league. They have some really good pieces, some youth that looks promising.

But I don't care what anyone says: Missing the playoffs is utter failure, and you leave yourself open to criticism when you miss as often as the Flyers have of late.

They aren't the worst, but they aren't the best, either. They make mistakes, and sometimes they clean them up really well. Sometimes you have to wait it out.

I am hopeful that next year we see more positives than negatives, like everyone else. But we aren't all gonna agree on the moves, and that means that someone is gonna be right and someone's gonna be wrong, and we all gotta hope that the moves they make are gonna help them win five or so more games next season at a minimum

Great organization and lots of playoff appearances in total, but yeah, 74-75 was a long time ago.

I like the direction they are going in general, a young promising mobile D core is something to be excited about. But watching the playoffs without the Flyers in them is bad.

I'd move Biron down a bit and Emery up a bit. There is no doubt in my mind that with a healthy Emery in 09-10 they win the cup. His .905 and 2.64 are thrown off by some of his games over the last 2 months that he got lit up that when I'm sure he was having a lot of discomfort while his hip necrosis was still un-diagnosed. He would have gotten the job done in the playoff run, especially looking at Niemi's save percentage in the final:

Game 1: .844 W
Game 2: .970 W
Game 3: .875 L
Game 4: .867 L
Game 5: .852 W
Game 6: .875 W

I can't see Niemi's Game 1 and Game 5 wins holding up if Emery was in net instead of Leighton.

that and the dmen not being healthy in 2004 and no tim Kerr and an unhealthy Poulin in 87 are the 3 that just kill me. really think the Flyers would have had 3 more cups

Fortunately for my lunch situation today, my boss is the provider of the free lunch and he also has a no talking in the bathroom policy. However, should a random messenger pop in to deliver the message, he'd be ignored.

Why are you guys all talking about the weird clown who treats every Flyers loss as a personal victory?
