There has been widespread rumors of him having a huge disconnect from the locker room for years now. Why are people fixated on needing a veteran SCRAP coach.
- Codes1087

yes, thats why Im leary of him.

If it were up to me and sutter was deemed the best available coach Id say 1-2 year deal with green named his successor in a systems integration and mentor for green way

First of all I think he developed Stecher Baertschi Hutton Tryamkin Bo Granlund very well .

The people he sat deserved to be sat.

Secondly You want to make a significant improvement in a high end draft year. So tank for Nico but not for Dahlen . Rebuild over? You are one of the biggest voices all year about getting to end picks in a year of no top end draft picks bu next year when there is high end we don't go for them

- VANTEL

As to your first point about development, I'll somewhat agree with Horvat and Baertschi, they've gotten better over the past two years. The others I don't agree with. I'd have to write a book to explain why though...not happening.

To your second point, where did you get that I want "significant improvement"? I never ever said that, assuming you mean in the standings. What I mean is you can lose games with young players but play the games in a better, more structured way, that's what I mean.

Kids need to learn to play the game the right way, in all three zones. That's what they need in a coach. My opinion has nothing to do with getting better in the standings, it does however have everything to do with TEACHING kids to play the game a certain way.

We need high draft picks to help the rest of the team to be better. Same as anyone who plays with Bo is better.

What I like about Boeser and Goldy is that they have finishing qualities that this team has lacked for years and years.

- manvanfan

We have been missing a player who can skate down the ice and just snipe it.

We haven't had that since Naslund.

Yup, it's pretty obvious that Green should be the front runner. Perhaps WAS assistant will get an interview as well but I doubt it.

I think it is part of our building. I will be hay to add another key player and I hope we can trade for another first round pick
- VANTEL

Would be unreal, Edler or Tanev for a first would be a dream come true. Get potentially franchise pieces (assuming we get Columbus' 2nd)

I agree with everything.

I know it seems like I am mad but I am absolutely not at all. I like many many things about this team but I resigned to the fact that I think we will be bad for another 2 years as we get some talented players and our young ones get expereince and get better.

We tanked for Mario. Unquestionably. The team was certainly awful, but Eddie Johnston made sure we went "Titanic" in the latter stages of that season.

Getting Crosby and Malkin was absolutely being bad at the right time.

In salary cap leagues, it's hard to build a perennial winner with out tanking/rebuilding.

- madmike71

Neems keeps using the Pens as the tank model. So nice to see you set him straight.

Dude, pittsburgh tanked hard for Crosby. Come on now. Chicago was bad for about 6 years, but it was the top-end picks that dug them out. It wasn't until they traeded Roenick/Chelios and anyone else worth anything that they truly bottomed out. You can call moving out your best players whatever you want, I call it tanking.
- neem55

There was a lockout the year before he was drafted, how do you tank when you didn't play a game

Weren't you the one who said the rebuild is over, or at least that's how you thought Benning felt?

I disagree. It's on the player. Eriksson was given many opportunities by the coach, in my opinion.

Opportunities yes…used properly…no.

Florida would be such a funny fit if it turns out, with the ex-Canuck history there. Maybe WD will ask for Dorsett

chaput would surely end up there

They tanked the three years before, trading away their most significant pieces for picks and prospects each year. Fluery, Malkin, Crosby, Staal =Tank (or is it asset management)

Same thing applies: management had been scrapping the team for years to get top picks, Crosby was one of many. Lockout doesnt change that. Didn't they do some kind of lottery for Crosby too?

I thought I could see a bit of improvement this season, only problem is that I didn't bother to recognize the downturn of others. Sort of just evened itself out. Next season should be more up then down because of young players usually have more potential.

Crosby was not a result of tanking but yes they tanked. Anyone could have won the right to draft Cindy.
