I was thinking more about what you posted and I keep coming back to the same thought... where's the pressure coming from? I don't see a lot of pressure to win now.

Did the Pens dismantle last season when they made those great trades leading up to the deadline?

I'm not sure how making trades before a trade deadline and losing playings to Free agency in the off-season are the same things.

1) This is the most stacked roster they've had in awhile

2) Eastern Conference doesn't really have another stacked team with PIT hurting

3) They have some key UFA's to sign and will only be weaker next year

4) A lot of their core players are in their prime years still

Basically the stars have aligned for them this year

Just trying to figure out your definition of dismantle is. IMO dismantle would be to jettison ovi.

Sure but we all know there's more to it than what you listed above. What happens if they run into a hot goalie? Happens all the time. Happened to the Canucks. Doesn't mean they can't go for it again next season. It's not do or die for them.

I'm not saying it's all or nothing, just that they're the clear favourite in the East this year, at least in the past there were a couple of teams on par with them. But a Letang-less Pens team is a tier below the Caps this year who added Shattenkirk. This is as good as it's gonna get, they'll still be contenders next year but their path will be more difficult since they'll be weaker and their foes will (potentially) be stronger.

Only thing that can stop them is a hot goalie or a total choke job.
