A Flyers fan getting jacked up relying on the Penguins to beat someone is hilarious and pathetic at the same time.
The Flyers have been the corn in the Penguins poop the last quarter century.
Bobrovsky will win his Vezina, the Penguins will make a run at another Cup, and the Flyers will continue being irrelevant!
You win!!!!

i don't have a dog in this fight...but i will take issue with your position on flyers/pens. it's just not true. sure, the pens have won 4 cups in the last 25 years. we all know how those were both a result of the team nearly folding and being gifted generational talents - lemieux, crosby, et al. without being pure garbage at the perfect time, they have nothing, and perhaps don't exist. the flyers beat them in 97, 2000, 2012, if memory serves. the flyers own the pens in their new building. unfortunately they choked in 2009 which led to a cup for pittsburgh. to their credit after losing their way a bit, they've rebounded and rode rookies to a cup. this year, crosby is on fire.
things will tilt back our way. eventually all those guys will be gone. look at the (frank)ing devils. perennial contenders a long time. literally dead last in the conference this year. they're (frank)ing awful.
the flyers are building...would be nice to get a few top forwards...maybe guys like konecny, lindblom, rubstov, and vecchione will become a superb cast. i hate waiting. nothing we can do though.
(frank) pooptsburgh. |

If anyone is up still watching the Sharks - Oilers game, did you just hear that quote from announcer on that McDavid SH goal? "That's why you have your best players on the PK." Gonna miss our best player when he hits free agency this summer. |

damn, mcdavid is just a beast. accelerates with the puck like nobody else and always seems to find a way to wire one past the goalie.

You gotta be forward-thinking in today's NHL to gain an advantage. The PK is one aspect I feel a lot of teams are lagging in. Ghost is the perfect defenseman for the type of pk id try. - JFlyers00
I like to hear what your revolutionary forward thinking PK strategy is. On the PK you're going to spend a lot of time defending and in puck battles in the corners, on the walls, and around the net as a defenseman. Gostisbehere is not perfect for that. If you know a way to avoid those scenarios on the PK at the NHL level, then you need to submit your resume to the Flyers as soon as possible.

I mean, I'm not thrilled with Hakstol's systems either
More in the o-zone though with the endless point shots and blue line funneling. Elsewhere is fine. Obviously Lehigh is a smaller/speedy team, and need their own offensive tweaks to maximize them (probably wouldn't hurt playing like the Penguins), but not in any zone do they bear resemblance. Not in any facet. Gaps are loose, forwards don't back check, every puck is lobbed out for home run plays because they have no real breakout strategy, they constantly get hemmed in their own end, and they just play a horrible style of hockey. It's antiquated. If they don't score on the rush or PP, they're (frank)ed. Forget personnel issues. Just for the sake of organizational competence, you'd think they'd play similarly, if not a carbon copy. Scott Gordon and 7th year AHL assistant coach Riley Cote are the ones molding our prospects, and that should make you queasy. - Mononoke
Utilizing Hakstol's system moving forward, if the Flyers are able to improve the skill and speed in the lineup, do you envision the Flyers generating more high quality chances or keeping the same perceived strategy of endless blueline shots?

It already started happening with Weal and Flip added.
I don't have an issue with how they play at all. Personnel decisions sure there's lots left to be desired.
In one game they brought out the two way D player Hagg was always thought of to be. They moved him up with provorov and in my opinion got in his ear to support rushes when their there. I'm excited much more with flyer hagg instead of phantom hagg |

Well, at least the Rags lost.
Anyone think that the Wild and Boudreau are feeling a wee bit of pressure right now?
On the Flyers PK
My biggest beef with the Flyers PK was them starting every kill with the pairing of PEB/VdV. PEB is lousy on faceoffs and by usually losing the opening draw, you are already making things hard on yourselves. I understand their reluctance to use to a not quite 100% Giroux on the PK, but at the very least, why not start the PK with Couturier and VdV, and then go to PEB/Simmonds on the next shift? Couturier is a much better faceoff man than Bellemare. |

Agreed. It was posted on here that Bellemare is near 40% on d zone faceoffs. This can't continue. I'd like to see Vecchione given a shot on the pk units. |

Works for me. Something like this would be nice to see as a PK rotation:
Coots/Simmonds
Vecc/PEB
Coots/Filpulla
PEB/Simmonds or Vecc if it's a D zone faceoff
edit: this would have only Couturier and Bellemare getting heavy PK minutes. |

So whoever wins the Bears/Bruins game today will be the opponent starting in LHV. I might get me some tickets |

Then we get to watch Gordon get badly out coached and wonder why his loaded lineup can't win a round or 2.
