Biggest Flyers disappointments of 16-17
1. The overall inconsistency of the team. Going forward they need to do a better job of putting out a strong effort, night in and night out, on a consistent basis.
2. Claude Giroux. He must be better for this team to succeed. That being said, upgrading the prospect pool at center is a must need.
3. Inconsistent goaltending. Mason and to a lesser extent, Neuvirth, have played well at times, but way too many momentum crushing soft goals were given up by both. If both of the goalies had come through with strong, consistent years, this team is in the playoffs.
What I hope for 17-18
1. Giroux has a big bounce back year. He doesn't have to be a dominant, top 10 NHL player, but they need him to continue to be a force on the pp and to put up better numbers at ES.
2. They go into 17-18 with a better goal tandem than Neuvirth/Stolarz.
3. That at least 4 of Sanheim, Morin, Hagg, Myers and Lindblom are all playing for the Flyers by season's end.
4. That Jordan Weal proves that he's not just a flash in the pan and that Vecchione earns a regular spot in the lineup.
5. A RETURN TO THE PLAYOFFS! |

For the biggest disspointment , I would have throw Jake right in there with Giroux.
Both players must step up their game in a big way for this team to even consider thinking playoffs.

For me the biggest disspointments were
1. Goalies and how inconsistent they were
2. Team Defense
3. Giroux (until last 15 games or so)
4. Coots (until last 20 games or so)

I'll be disappointed if this doesn't happen on opening night. For Stolarz, Morin and Hagg, what more can they get out of the AHL next year? I think it's time they sink or swim. Lindblom may be a different story and I don't know how the Swedish Elite league compares to the AHL. |

Jake would have been #4 on my list, and woefully inconsistent special teams play #5
MDZ's lousy season would have been #6 |

From what I gather from various scouts, the Swedish league is relatively comparable to the AHL and Lindblom has been one of the best players in that league so I very much expect him to make the Flyers. He's also looked great, in a small sample size, in his games with the Phantoms.
Here is how I see the kids making the team over the next 2 seasons:
at the start of 17-18
Stolarz
Morin
Hagg
Lindblom
Making the team to stay during 17-18
Sanheim
Getting at least a look during 17-18
Laughton
Leier
Myers
at the start of 18-19
Myers
getting at least a look during 18-19
Lyon
Vorobyev
Rubtsov
Aube-Kubel
There are other prospects who also may get looks or make the team during these next 2 seasons, but the guys I've mentioned are the ones who I think are most likely to do so.

What do you mean by getting a look? It's hard to imagine a way all 4 remaining NHL potential D prospects all play an NHL game next season.
