I think it's impossible to trade Edler so it may need to be Tanev unfortunately - CanuckDon
Edler is a stubborn ass, but Bieksa also once said "I'm going down with the ship" and then he was dealt to Anaheim a year later. Just tell Edler what you told Bieksa, that his role here will be reduced if he wants to stay and that the team isn't planning on to contend for the playoffs anytime soon. And that the Sedins will also be gone after 1 more year. Maybe he'll provide a 5 team list. |

He is a top 4 defence. He needs top be paired with the right guy. - thundachunk
Even if that happens, taking the guys ahead of him on the depth chart off the team will put him above his class. |

Do I think the above is important? Sure.
Do I think its the fundamental problem as to why this team sucks? No.
Getting a bunch of meatheads and grinders is the least of this teams worries. - Whiskey-Tango
This is the issue with all these arguments from who to blame and what to focus on. Ownership, Management, coaching, players, tanking vs competing, schedule, injuries(depth) I can go on.
The point is there isn't a single fundamental problem. Everything plays a role. It ALL needs to work in unison to improve. That's the fundamental problem is the deficiencies in all these areas. Then creating a lack of cohesion for a nexus of success to make it all work. |

I don't know man........
3 years in the league now and only 1 fight, and that was against lightweight Erik Karlsson. I'm starting to re-think my position on him. - golfingsince
You guys are (frank)ing hilarious at no point did anybody advocate getting a bunch of goons. But by all means, continue your little 3 way complaining circle jerk |

We trade for a D-man only to have to trade for another one to play with the first one.
Right on |

Maybe but he doesn't have Bieksas character so I'd be shocked if helped the team out. Hopefully he comes around to leaving town and we can fire him out of the cannon |

We need to ship out guys because they don't fight enough. That's why we get rid of Tanev for Gudbranson.
You guys are just opening my eyes to a whole new way of hockey.
Maybe Horvat needs to train with MMA fighters this summer and he'll come back in the fall as a more suitable leader. |

I think you pair Tree and EG with smart and quick D partners. Hutton is a train wreck and makes too many poor decisions |

What's really weird is that 4 of the bottom 5 teams in fights this season are the Pens, Blackhawks, Rags and Capitals. |

A lot of his boys are gone and the Sedins will be next, he's probably a hell of a lot more open to it today then he was a year or 2 ago. It's basically just he and Tanev besides them. I think if Benning/Linden pushed him, he'd provide at least a small list. We can only speculate though. Who knows if Benning even wants to move him.
I still have yet to see a convincing argument made by anyone for why trading Tanev is a great idea. |

Who said get rid of Tanev for EG? You consider trading Tanev for futures. Stay on topic |

Well, seeing as how we are trading Edler and Tanev, I guess that becomes much more difficult now |

Not really cheering for any team, I am very interested to see a Calgary/edmonton 1st round if this weeks standings hold.
I'm pretty sure Edmonton is going to do some damage, I didn't think they'd be very good at the start of the season, but they actually have a little depth. - Crazybagoham
hope they kill each other and mcdavid blows out his knee just kidding I would never hope that, I wont be watching cant stand either team, world championships for me or spring yard work. |

We obviously won't trade Tanev for EG. Benning is smarter than that. (I hope so anyways)
Last page you said trade Tanev and Edler because EG can play the mentoring role.

Hutton's been playing pretty well down the stretch actually, he's been anything but a train wreck since getting away from EG.
I'd like to see Tryamkin with Tanev actually, everyone looks better with Tanev and it could give Tryamkin more confidence to grow his game. He's a naturally lefty so he fits with the righty Tanev.

I'm sure Benning will try and trade Edler. He certainly doesn't appear to be one of his favorites but he has been vocal about his fondness towards Tanevs game |
