I think these last 15 games Tryamkin has been our best defence. I thought his conditioning would have been an issue but he has shown me otherwise.

Russian training best. Just look at Ivan Drago.

This really is Canucks year to dump a contract. I would be disappointed if they let a guy like Sbisa go who has one year left when stuck for more money and more years.

Even if it happens to be a forward, Canucks should dump one contract .

Ideally they accept to waive and are traded but if our backs are against the wall then expose them

Rielly, Gardiner, Ziatsev or whatever his name is are doing better without Dion. Edler and Tanev are double Dion.
- manvanfan

For one, Dion has little in common with both Edler or Tanev, but ok, I'll play along.

Ziatsev never played with Dion.
Gardiner was horrible defensively with Dion, and continues to be horrible without him.
Rielly was a 5th overall pick and frankly, is better then anyone we have in the system (including O.J), but remains suspect defensively, with and without Dion....He's a career minus -64.

Moreover, you guys talk as though its Toronto's D-core that is the engine that drives that boat when in reality, its the team's biggest weakness lol.

6'3 is tough, hits , skates well, and plays the PP. What is not to like .

No different that taking Tkachuk last year.

That shot of his is amazing. I agree.
- thundachunk

Work on the other area's. Teams were at loathe to let him go. There are no high expectations next season, let him battle for a job and give him ice time.

That is your take.

My take is Dion is way better than Edler or Tanev

Gardiner has become a decent Dman with experience of playing .

Reilly did it without being showed the way and his hand held same as OJ will.

Well personally I would try a good old fashion hockey trade with Tanev straight across for Hamonic. Then with Edler I would trade for a #1 scorer in Drouin(clearly Daniel isn't gonna be that ever again). Add a bit here or there to make it happen and you have changed the speed and scoring up front and you keep veteran leadership on the back end. I'm not saying this would ever happen but it is the type of deal that could benefit both teams.
- thundachunk

Why would NYI trade Ham for Tan? Harmonic is better the Tanev. Edler isn't getting you a Drouin. Edler is no longer a top 2 dman on a good team, top 4 I agree with but not top 2.

Without Edler and Tanev the team was horrible this year, some people have short memories. However, if they're going to be bad, trade Tanev for a good return and sign a veteran D (if you can) so you're not throwing the young guys to the wolves.

You can't just get rid of all the experience, you need vets like Edler, who plays the toughest minutes for the club, to take the load off the younger guys.

Then make his life hell.
- VanHockeyGuy

Agreed. But this one is weird, here is a guy that cares more about being comfortable then winning a cup! Van needs guys that want to win at all costs.....Edler isn't it. If he doesn't agree to be moved, expose him to Vegas and clear the cap space.

There's going to have to be A LOT of luck involved with turning this poop-show around. Like Oilers or Leafs luck.
