I doubt Edler waives but you never know. They should move Tanev before his NTC kicks in. - Marwood

That't what you're going with huh? - VANTEL
Well, that's what was said last night.
It works both ways Vantel.
What i'm going with is trying to get rid of a bad contract that we're going to have for another 4 years, instead of trying to get rid of guys around one more year.
I know you don't like the soft possession style game but Sutter plays a soft, don't have possession style game. |

Those guys you are referring to couldn't even handle their minutes this year with the likes of Edler and Tanev shielding them.
I believe in progressive development, but to simply assume players are guaranteed to improve on a yearly basis is wrong and is something this fan-base been doing for decades.
Yes, D is at a premium. So we move them both for picks, rookies take their spot and conceivably don't pan out, we then have to trade back for D......at a premium... - Whiskey-Tango
Well personally I would try a good old fashion hockey trade with Tanev straight across for Hamonic. Then with Edler I would trade for a #1 scorer in Drouin(clearly Daniel isn't gonna be that ever again). Add a bit here or there to make it happen and you have changed the speed and scoring up front and you keep veteran leadership on the back end. I'm not saying this would ever happen but it is the type of deal that could benefit both teams.

If you could trade Tanev to a Bubble team for a first round pick and draft Cal Foote that would be a huge win - VANTEL

Your missing the point.
Edler and Tanev leave.
Someone has to take their spot.
That someone will be young and inexperienced.
Do those rookies benefit in the development sense playing in roles they are not ready for.
Its nice to see y'all hop on the tank-wagon (finally), but getting the high draft picks is the easy part.
Developing those picks in a meaningful and proactive way is the hard part. We are not going to get a franchise savior ala McDavid, thus throwing every new shiny toy onto the top line/1st defensive pairing is a good way to instigate a 'bust-factory' type approach. - Whiskey-Tango
I am not missing the point at all. You think Edler and Tanev are effective I don't .
Toronto had a terrible D and gave up an anchor and traded Phanuef and they also let go Kessel .
Young Morgan Reilly seemed to have panned out okay.

You are missing the point, Edler and Tanev are ruining the young D Van have! |

There are many bad contracts right now. I think Sutter needs to prove himself more once the Sedins are gone. His partners right now are Shore and Goldobin . He needs talent beside him.
For the 10 minutes he played with Boeser the other night they looked good.
When he played with Granlund he looked good. He needs help ,he can't do it alone. |

I think these last 15 games Tryamkin has been our best defence. I thought his conditioning would have been an issue but he has shown me otherwise. |

Only thing Edler is effective at this point is logging minutes…and the more minutes he logs the worse he is out there.
Tanev playing 20-30 games per year now is useless to us. Let him go be injured somewhere else so we can recoup a draft pick.
Edler's minutes will take some thinking to replace but Tanev at this point can be replaced quite easily

Rielly, Gardiner, Ziatsev or whatever his name is are doing better without Dion. Edler and Tanev are double Dion.

Shore and Boucher have been a really great surprise for me. I really like both their games. |

That's utterly ridiculous. |

Neither one has stood out for me . I wouldn't bring Shore back but you have to realize Boucher has scored 5 goals even though there is little else to like |

Once he learns the language and gets a couple of seasons under his belt he'll be light years ahead of Tanev, Edler & Gudbranson. |

There is some good D this year I would grab one or two |

Van doesn't really have enough top end talent right now to allow Boucher to be a 3rd or 4th liner or a PP specialist. |
