It's hard to say. They will get another top 5 pick this year it looks like. Looking at other teams that have recently been bad they didn't turn it around until they got a real good solid center 1st overall. Doesn't look good for Van because there doesn't seem to be one this season.

For the people that thank McDavid is the oilers. Well Larsson, lucic, and some others were added. Toronto added more then just Matthews also.

I think Canucks have four or five good pieces already. What I am saying is move the old regime out sooner than later. Nudge them out the door and put up a sign Country Club closed

Is it to late in the season to just start waiving players who will be UFAs?

Was thinking we might as well wave larsen, shore, megna etc, in hopes someone picks them up for the playoffs so we can sign additional prospects if needed.

Is this a thing?

- mauryballstein

I don't think so. Players can technically move, but would not be eligible for playoffs, or for the AHL affiliates. You may be able to waive players for mutual termination of contract, but don't know for sure one way or the other.

Think so? You know we can fall back as many as 3 spots right? Plus there's Vegas with the third overall.

I'm pretty sure it is. Would need to get some players back from the injured list though.

Trade Edler and Tanev, wait 1 season and the Sedin's are gone and that is it. There isn't anyone else.

That actually makes him looks worse, he's in his prime and they're ancient

Clearly is injured. I find it hilarious when people single out an injured 3rd line center as the Canucks biggest problem

It's one think to tank, another to 'blow it up'.
Edler and Tanev are literally the only top 4 D-men we have, with perhaps OJ being the only realistic option to grow into that role within the conceivable future.

We are likely going to be getting high picks in the next few years in spite of those two, so why move them?

I think it would be better for those two to take the losing load as opposed to some twenty something rookie. We still need some professional base for development.

Seriously how much can they fall in the standings. Losing is Losing

Get something for aging assets while they have value.

We are already getting 45 shots against

I don't see that as the case. This team is changing. We have a couple guys that I would give their minutes to next year and see if they could handle the load. Look past the "they're our only top 4 guys"

As to why move them it is basically the best case scenario for acquiring because defence are at a premium. Example, Larssen for Hall.

I could't disagree more. Filter in and filter out.
