Observations:

- Weal seems to be noticeable every game and almost every time on the ice.

- Gostisbehere looks to have the confidence back.

- Couturier and Schenn should stay together. They seem to play well together and both have been very solid.

- I know Voracek scored the other day but he still seems to be not giving much.

- MacDonald seemed to struggle last night.

- I know people see them as hollow wins but I like seeing this team compete and like seeing players like Weal, Schenn, Couturier and Provorov working to finish this season out.

- J35Bacher

It's frustrating because we see them do this every year and they start racking up these hollow wins to either just make or just miss the playoffs. There is an effect they play with this time of year that they don't exert during the rest of the season. It's unacceptable. It's like when they get off to bad starts in games. You see the effort increase AFTER the other team scores.

Letting Weal unsigned does not protect him from being picked by Vegas.

Since I have them in my car to toss in the recycling here at work at the end of the day, one last time:

I have a bunch of Flyers posters from games (i.e. Mark Howe jersey night, etc.) and some player insert cards from programs, including the 05/06 and 03/04 playoffs, that I cleaned out of the closet. Would anyone like to take them off of my hands? If so, PM me.

Well, he is right...if he's unsigned, he can't be protected, so he could be the player they pick. It would be unwise, but he's technically right.

Can't argue with this either and we've seen it under Lavi, Berube and now Hak. This is why I think a core player or 2 needs to go.

are you saying it looks like the first sign of a bust?
- YuenglingJagr

It was actually a combined 33-4.

What a bunch of busts. Couldn't even average 10 goals per game.

I was unaware they could protect a UFA.

I think he should be protected, personally.

The descriptive term good would signify that the player who is being so described is better than average as reason dictates that any "good" player would be better than the average player. Therefore, once again, you are incorrect.

Raffl is an average player based on comparisons against other NHL wingers
PEB is a below average player based on comparisons against other NHL centers

LOL, nice try. I don't know about you but when I look at a player, I consider their role and what kind of player they are. For example when I look at Bellemare, I'm not comparing him to Conner McDavid or even a lesser center in the NHL. I'm looking at him as a 4th line role player for the team, and how he has performed in that role. The Flyers seem to agree, in that they re-signed him to a 2 year deal with a significant raise.
Raffl in my opinion is a solid skater, strong on the puck and the forecheck that can chip in some goals in a top 9 forward role, and is also versatile enough to move up and down the lineup. He plays well on both sides of the puck. Again I'm not comparing him to Phil Kessel. The Flyers also re-signed Raffl to a three year deal not that long ago
So while it wouldn't be a huge issue to lose one of these players, it would hurt the team in the short run. In summation, you're wrong to state that I'm incorrect. In my opinion of course.

Hey Read has been a part of this team for going on 6 years now, and AMac has been here for parts of 4 with another 3 to go.

That's pretty "core" to me.

So, would you say that Chris VandeVelde is also good because you'd be comparing him to other 4th liners as well?

I'm really just trying to figure out how you determine a good hockey player from a bad one. To me, I compare them as players as a whole, not as line-designated players.

Your previous post said nothing about their relative value in regards to their roles, it simply stated that they were good players. This is non-factual statement.

If you are instead ascertaining that Raffl is good in his role as a 3rd line winger who can step up and play in the top 6 when needed, then I would, with perhaps some slight reservations, agree.

However, even in a 4th line/PK role, Bellemare is average at best. He's not good.

Either way, your original statement, was incorrect. As someone who seems to enjoy picking other's posts apart for any minuscule mistakes, inaccuracies or fallacies, I thought you would appreciate having this pointed out to you.

edit: 7 points in 76 games, for an NHL center is not good. No matter what that center's role is assumed to be.

So do the Flyers have any bad players on the team? If so, which ones?
